Motivation restored
So I have a long fic that I haven't updated in 10 months...
My life basically exploded, my mental health took a nose dive, and I essentially lost all creative mojo for a while.
Well recently, thinking about the fact that I have this unfinished work just sitting there was really weighing on me and funny enough after months of not touching it I managed to write about 1000 words the other day out of pure spite (not ideal I know but I was willing to take the win). I was convinced that after such a long hiatus, people would have lost interest in the fic and I was willing to accept that. Mostly I just wanted to finish it so I could stop thinking about it.
Then today I opened my email and saw that there was a new comment on said fic. Now, I was fully prepared for it to be one of those artist scam messages, or a hate bot, or some other bullshit... instead, I found a fat wall of text where this reader described all the things they loved about my story in detail and how they were desperately hoping it wasn't abandoned.
And god, I must've reread that comment 7 times before I managed to cobble together a semi-coherent response 😅
Genuinely, it made me fall in love with my fic all over again which probably sounds really corny but it did and now my motivation is through the roof!
So here's your reminder:
LEAVE COMMENTS ON WORKS THAT YOU ENJOY.
It means more to us authors than you probably realize.
I'm genuinely so confused...
Last night I posted about a fic of mine in a community related to that Fandom. Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and discovered that the moderators nuked the post for "promoting pedophilia"...

It's a college AU...

No one in that fic is under 18...

Now it's an explicit fic with "dark themes" (rape/noncon) but it's tagged appropriately.

Apparently, the MC being 16 in universe is enough to qualify for pedophilia. Who knew. 🥴

The cherry on top is that there's no way for me to contest it, so that's cool ✌️
