47 Apps?

Hi there

I'm trying REALLY hard to love this device. I already am obsessed with the IDEA of it, but I'm not quite getting the hang of using it. I tried downloading a document on the email app and since it's in docx format I don't have a way to view it without going on my computer and converting it to a PDF. Not a dealbreaker, but a bit of an annoyance. When I went on this forum to look up good apps, one that was suggested was Simplenote but when I went on the App Store (I'm really not an android user, sorry!), I only have 47 apps to choose from. Is this correct? I don't see a lot of the apps that are recommended, do I need to download them on my computer (I have only a MacBook) and get them to my tablet? I have a lot of reasons to like this device, not just the 100 sudoku games I've been playing 🤣 but if I can't figure out the apps and file system (a bit of a terror so far), I'm just not sure I'll be keeping it. Where are the rest of the apps kept if not the Play Store? Should I look elsewhere?

I have already used one tip in less than a week because I write too hard, so I'm trying to write lighter and I also am going to get the ceramic tip stylus. I hope this will actually be a tablet that I can use for my multiple purposes since I've been obsessing over which one to buy for at least a year and finally pulled the trigger!!!

Thanks so much for your help!!!

UPDATE: Oh my god what an idiot I am 😆 I installed the apps but then didn't go into the PLAY STORE to see what else there is 🙄 Okay I'm going to look around more. IGNORE ME 🤣

Help - just explain it to me like I'm a dummy 🤣

I got the AIPaper and I really like it so far! That said, the tip has worn down a ton in just the 24-ish hours since I got it!!! Is that normal? Or should I spring for the new ceramic tip???

Next: what are all the functions and why? What is the difference between learning, paper, picking, notes, etc? Why can't I find my documents once I import? I was writing on a note yesterday that I couldn't for the life of me find today, finally clicked all over the place and found it under "Paper" in a file folder, but not when I clicked on the Paper app!

I'm really considering returning it and getting a refurbished model and using the savings to buy the ceramic pen..... Thoughts?

AIPaper arriving Wednesday~~~~!

Before I get my Viwoods, I'm curious whether I can sync to more than one Google Account? I have a personal one, a school one (I'm a teacher), a business one (I manage my husband's restaurant), and spare for my work on city council. I can certainly use just one if needed and just share to the other accounts, but if I have the ability to save to multiple that would help save a step. Thanks in advance!!!! I'm counting down the days until my Viwoods arrives!!!!

Recently ordered AiPaper!!!!

It is supposed to arrive next Wednesday and I'm SO excited!!! I'm excited to use it in all areas of my life and shrink all the paper problems and mess I have. I love to write by hand -- I know it helps my brain because it calms me and settles me, I crave handwriting. But I'm also so messy and I need to keep things in order, I think this is finally my solution! I have been lurking on various sites, just trying to figure out which e-ink device will work for me. I finally decided to get the AIPaper from Viwoods and I think it will be great!

Here's my situation:

  • I'm a teacher, I do a lot of professional development, go to meetings, do lesson planning (I'll want to print out the lessons I write out)
  • I'm on city council and we have these large packets to read before our monthly meeting. I have been reading them on the computer and taking notes in a separate notebook or on stickies, then when I get to the meeting there is a printed packet waiting for me and I have to transfer the notes or stickies so I can stay up to date
  • I'm a mom and all the things that comes with it: meal planning, kids' sports schedules, just... all of it 😆
  • I am the bookkeeper at my husband's restaurant and I do all the ordering and we do a lot of planning for the future where I take notes and we draw pictures. I have notes on the backs of receipts or in notebooks, and then I lose them or have to transfer a photo of them or rewrite them

I know there are even more situations that I can use this device but those are my main reasons. Just keeping track of paper, writing my thoughts to brain dump them, and staying organized with my job. I'm excited to see how the device syncs with my Google Drive from school and work, I'm going to see if I like reading on it better than my iPad, and I'm really looking forward to scheduling things and keeping track of who needs to be where (but I'll never stop putting things in my calendar app!).

Anything else I should look into? Where do people prefer to get their templates for calendars, to-dos, etc? What's the best way to export data to print? Any favorite features for me to be even more excited about?

Ooh is there foreign language support? I also speak Japanese and I'm curious about handwriting into text in other languages. My written Japanese isn't nearly as good as my spoken so I'm studying to get better. Not a deal breaker by any means!!!

Thanks in advance and I'm happy to be a part of this community!

Can someone help me with a recommendation?

Hi folks, I've been lurking on this sub for a few months now. I REALLY want an e-ink tablet but I can't decide what to get. My situation is that I'm a teacher and we live in the Google environment for school. I love my Apple devices so I already own an iPad, which I use to read my Kindle books on and sometimes I want to read a book and take notes on it (books for school, or books on health, etc) -- not like romance novels 🤣 I recently was elected to City Council and we get huge PDF packets before our meetings and I want to take notes on them before the meeting to arrange my thoughts. Right now, I read them on my MacBook and take notes either in a notebook or on stickies, and then when I get to the meeting I have a printed copy of the packet and I can just put my stickies on the pages or get my notebook out and turn to the page. As a teacher, I want to plan my lessons or think on paper about what to do for instructional decisions long-term, but I also take classes where I watch videos and take notes and I'd like a place to keep all those notes, preferably converted to text and uploaded into Google. I LOVE handwriting vs typing and I have notebooks and journals and binders all over the place, it would be nice to have just one device to hold them all.

I don't draw, I don't want to check my email, I don't want a bloated OS to hog resources, I don't want the latest version of this app or that (unless it's great of course). I don't want color, I don't want backlit, I don't even necessarily want front lit. I want it to FEEL like I'm writing on paper.

Here are my wants/needs and I'd appreciate any advice!

  1. Import and annotate PDFs (biggest priority) - as easily as possible but I can do some workarounds
  2. Possibly export the annotated PDFs
  3. Export notes into Google Docs - convert to text
  4. Annotate ebooks (kindle)
  5. Black and white with no lighting needed
  6. Limited OS, limited notifications, limited distractions!
  7. Good size but huge isn't necessary
  8. Not a huge android fan but OS isn't a dealbreaker

Am I trying to find a unicorn? Will it break the bank? Does anyone know one that would work for all my requests or will I have to compromise?

Thanks in advance!! I've really enjoyed reading everyone's posts these past few months. There's so much knowledge in this group!

Rear windshield wiper???

Well, I totally effed up my rear windshield wiper. I have a spoiler thing above it, so I was quite confused how to change it, I took off the spoiler and it's still screwed on, so I took out the screws and DROPPED ONE IN THE GRASS. Then I tried to remove the rubber and the 13" replacement I got isn't exactly the right size so it's floppy and doesn't fit either way. Does anyone know where I can buy the rubber to change the wiper blade? AND WHERE I CAN GET A NEW SCREW 🤦‍♀️ It wasn't pretty over here, send help 🤣

EDIT: Does this part look right? It's expensive but if I have to bite the bullet I will! https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~blade~assy~rear~wiper~85220-22461.html?vin=&make=Toyota&model=4Runner&year=1994&submodel=4%20Wheel%20Drive-JPP&extra1=&extra2=&filter=(d=USA;1=3VZE;3=4D;4=SR5;5=MTM;6=5F;7=WG;8=R;0=VZN130L-GKMGEA)

Roof rack cargo holder?

My husband is Japanese and wants to soup up our new (to us) 1994 4Runner. One thing he thinks would look good is a cargo holder. I'm not planning to use it (I'm too short!!!) but it would look cool. Anyone know of one that looks good and won't break the bank?

UPDATE: We have rails over the back of the 4Runner, not over the sun roof

4 months in

Hey folks! I started taking Wegovy in early February at my heaviest, 184 pounds. I'm down 30 pounds and for the last 3-4 weeks I've been wavering between 153-156 with no real change. I'm 5'3" and 47 years old, female and in perimenopause. I pay out of pocket with a prescription from my primary care doctor.

I take the pill at about 4am, which is my normal wake up time, with just a sip of water. I wait at least 1 hour before having coffee or food, either just doing stuff around the house or napping for a while depending on what day of the week it is. I've never been really hungry in the morning so it's not too hard for me, and since I'm up so early I have enough time to have breakfast and coffee before getting ready to go to work.

I found that the 1.5 kicked in for me at about 3-4 days by just appetite suppression and a surprised "I'm full and don't need to keep eating" of my dinner that night 🤣 Soon after the "food noise" (a concept I'd never heard of but is SO REAL) was gone and I was walking around thinking wooooow is this what other people feel like all the time??? I ate too much dessert on Valentine's Day and felt nauseous all night into the next morning, drank mint tea for relief. From someone who regularly overeats, like waaaay past feeling full, it was crazy to have a real consequence from overeating. And it has been teaching me to take less food and see if I'm still hungry. Spoiler alert: I'm usually not. After 28 days the 1.5mg just magically stopped, it was pretty weird. I'd been waffling between staying on 1.5 or moving up to 4mg and my doctor had wanted me to stay at 1.5 but for some reason I decided to get the 4mg prescription and I'm so happy I did! The 4mg didn't kick in for like 12 days after I started, with no break in taking the pill, so weird! But once it kicked in it's been really steady. A couple of weeks ago I was starting to get hungry in the afternoon/evening and I thought I'll move up to 9mg but the 4mg started working again stronger.

I eat pretty healthy, most meals made from scratch by meal prepping on Sundays just by cutting raw chicken and adding it to freezer containers with precut veggies and the flavorings, then the morning of I take a container out and once it's thawed I add it to the cooker and hit start. It's such an easy solution even my kids help me. We also make rice everyday (Japanese-American family) and I eat a little of it. It's been really hard to reset my thinking and start eating carbs again after years of (failed) keto.

For breakfast, I usually have coffee with half and half and a small amount of cottage cheese with chia seeds for fiber. For lunch, I eat a PB&J on Sola bread for the extra fiber and protein and a piece of fruit, plus a small milk from my school's cafeteria. For dinner, one of the meals we make or sometimes Dominos if life gets too crazy.

I have few side effects, but to prevent or alleviate mild constipation, I make sure to take magnesium glycinate before bed and it's also a sleep aid. I may or may not remember to take my multivitamin and probiotic and collagen pills. I feel queasy once in a while and I drink mint tea or eat some Japanese pickled plum (umeboshi). Sometimes I just plain don't eat enough and I get shaky so I try and eat even if I don't feel my stomach rumble -- such a weird concept! I kept a very specific food log when I first started so I could see if there was any correlation between how I felt and what I ate. I found that greasy food does NOT sit well with me. My husband owns a Japanese restaurant and uses lard and peanut oil and I have no issues with deep fried food he makes, but any other fried food makes me nauseous and I think it's because the other restaurants use seed oils like soy and canola and I can't tolerate them (that's another topic but really no one should be eating any seed oils!!!). By keeping a careful log I found what works and what doesn't for me, and I have been able to feel pretty good most days!

I'm a teacher so it's hard to get bathroom breaks so I definitely don't drink enough water during the day. I used to drink a LOT of beer, now I may have half and think ehhhh and put it back in the fridge. It's so nice to not feel controlled by food and drinks but instead to pick what I want to eat because it's appealing and healthy. I don't exercise beyond a short Taichi workout from YouTube most mornings. I'm extremely busy (aren't we all) and I hope I can add more movement when school is out for the summer.

I've been listening to some podcasts about GLP-1s, reading books like Lauren Pierce's The GLP-1 Weight Loss Blueprint, and trying to educate myself. I'm hoping I can lose the remaining 20 pounds in the next couple of months and then figure out how to maintain the weight I've lost. I'm thinking if my doctor okays it I would like to take pills once every few days or once a week, but I'm willing to do what she thinks is right. I'm also interested in getting my husband on the pill because he has inflammation and liver issues, but he's pretty skinny so it may or may not be an easy sell. I meet with my doctor late June and I'm going to bring it up.

So, that's me! I hope this is helpful to anyone. It's quite a miracle pill, but I'm using it to encourage good habits as well. You can't just eat junk -- if you do, you'll get sick! I've found that I don't have to work hard to lose weight if I'm taking the pill, but I DO have to listen to my body's cues. If it's really hard to lose weight -- appetite is strong or food noise is loud, that could mean you still need to kick it up a notch to a stronger dose. If you're feeling sick or have side effects, the first recommendation I have is to keep a food log and look for anything that doesn't make you sick and try an elimination diet. The weirdest foods are now making me sick and I have to avoid them (quesadillas??? WHY???) but we are all so different that it's not possible to say what everyone can or can't eat, it's best to figure it out for ourselves.

Reach out with any questions and I'd love to help anyone just starting out or who wants some solidarity! We need to stay positive and encourage one another ❤️

Seat Rip Solution

Hey folks, me again! I'm ordering cloth seat covers (I hate sticking to the leather/fake leather!) but I have a huge rip in the seat. I can sew, but I worry that where I sew will degrade parts of the fabric anyway. I was thinking about just putting a bottom seat cover on first to hold in the fabric (and do a little sewing too). Any thoughts?

Here's the link to the bottom seat cover I'm thinking about: https://www.ebay.com/itm/406316479240?fits=Year%3A1994%7CModel%3A4Runner&_skw=1994+4runner&itmmeta=01KSWWZBD5KM5SJJJ0GRGZFT52&hash=item5e9a597308:g:5DEAAeSw8dxo-sXx

Just got my 1994 4Runner!

I wanted a car that could pull my little teardrop camper and is stick shift, my husband found a 94 4Runner in great shape, only 152,000 miles and no rust (rare in Vermont)!!!

I'm going to get seat covers and I ordered a tape deck bluetooth adapter 🤣 I have priorities!!!

Next up, what about parts to keep it in great condition? I'm going to look for a hood cover -- the little plastic thing to keep from getting chips on the hood, anyone know of a good place to source it? My husband and children are looking at LED lights, zombie lights, the whole shebang, you name it they want it. I'm more of a minimalist when it comes to cars, it just needs to run and not cost too much money to fix 🤣

Anything I should upgrade FOR SURE? Not just a wish list of cool things. Thanks in advance!
