Medicaid work requirement? Got letter.

62, female, live in New Jersey . I just took my SS benefits early, so that I could babysit my granddaughter 3 days a week while my DIL works. In exchange, I get a free room in their house. I get $1350 SS and $95 SNAP monthly, so I cover all my own living expenses. Everything is working out great.

But now I got a letter in the mail saying that I may be required to work, volunteer, or go to school 80 hours a month to keep my Medicaid coverage.

My DIL works a rotating schedule, so getting a job would be tricky. I’m wondering that if this does apply to me, would it make sense to have my son and DIL pay me to babysit, then give the money back to them as rent? Or should I just go on healthcare.gov if I lose coverage, and pay for a new policy? I’m thinking that it couldn’t cost much, because my income is so low.

Just as a side note- I have no savings and don’t own anything. The SS is my only income.

62F, no health issues but severe white coat syndrome

62, female, 5’ 2”, 185 lbs, non smoker/drinker, never had any health issues. No medication other than eye drops for dry eyes. I take my blood pressure at home with two different, high quality brands of bp monitors. I average out at around 132/70. But in any medical setting, my blood pressure skyrockets. I went to a new gynecologist the other day, and it was 190/75. As soon as they take out that cuff, I go into a completely panic. The doctor didn’t believe me that this is a common occurrence for me and told me that I need to see my regular doctor and be put on medication. My regular doctor retired last year and he always understood my problem and took the reading 2 or 3 times, by which time it would come way down. It’s been happening to me for a good 10 years now. So I have to find a new GP, and I’m so frustrated with this problem that it’s stressing me out my experience at the new gyno only made things worse. Any advice on how I should proceed?

Work requirements and caregivers?

New Jersey, single, 62. Current income is $1375 a month from Social Security and a $95 a month Snap. I’m living with my son and his wife . I’m taking care of their 9 month old baby while they work. In exchange, I get a room and all utilities paid. No money is being exchanged. I just got a letter in the mail about the new Medicaid work requirements coming in January. Would it be easier to try to get an exemption, because I’m caring for a family member (how would I be able to prove it, though?) or should I have my son pay me and then I just pay him back the same amount as rent? 🤔
