Puralator Boss Oil Filter Experience Civic 11th Gen
I just want to share my experience using this filter. I have a 2022 Civic Sport with 57,000 miles. I've always used OEM parts for everything since I got the car. I was curious about what people were saying about this filter and its amazing filtration capacity, so I decided to try it at my next oil change. The first thing I noticed was a real resistance when accelerating on my commute. The car had a certain resistance to going past 2,000 RPM, like something was holding it back, and when it did, it felt strained, I loose all car smoothness. I knew it wasn't normal. I gave it a few days, and it still felt the same. I knew how my car felt when accelerating, and this wasn't normal. I remember that accelerating to 3,000-4,000 RPM was pretty easy. I didn't hesitate to switch to the OEM filter on the third day. I had driven less than 100 miles, and sure enough, it was the oil filter. I read somewhere that it's a pretty restrictive filter, even when new, and that it restricts airflow up to three times compared to the OEM filter. I tested it on my wife's 2013 Civic and it worked fine, but it's not compatible with the 2022 and newer models. I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone is thinking of using it.
