How do I start?

Lighting design seems pretty dope and I wanna get into (possible career? Would love feedback on that too, I have a connection) but I know next to nothing.

I did a technical theater class that touched on lights a bit but we never got to play with them properly,

only ever did a light-map (which even then was so rushed and scuffed and not really my work flow)

I found Capture Nexum when seems super dope to play around with but I also wanna know what I’m doing beyond that.

Besides tutorials for the software, anywhere where I can gain general knowledge?

I hate the whole “Jesus loves you” thing.

I mean I get the message but you could so easily just say it in a different way. The main thing that comes out of it when I hear it is just “you’re living wrong and you should conform.” Why not just focus on specific problems with someone’s lifestyle rather than pretty much implying them to change it complete. Of course everyone wants what’s best for everyone and to live in a perfect world but some people just see the world differently and everyone’s “best path” isn’t always through Christianity or any religion for that matter. I appreciate that it has brought structure and clarity to your life but that’s just you fr. If I was interested I would ask about yk? Especially with it being literally like the biggest religion in the world. I just wish people could more transparent when it comes to morals and ways of life.

How do I stop living under a rock?

I think Reddit was kinda a good start. Been more active on it recently and honestly way better than short form doomscrolling that I usually do. I want to know as much as I can about the world around me but it feels kind of hard to do and I feel like I know the steps I need to take but sometimes it’s better hearing it from someone else you know? I’m mainly interested in a lot of art and culture but also stuff that would be cool to just bring up in conversation/small talk. I want stuff to talk about.
