I am a teenage atheist. Whenever people find out about this, most of them respect my beliefs. However, some people just cannot digest the fact that others can have different perspectives. They feel compelled to start an argument using the stupidest points just to convert me back to theism. Why do they even care?
There is one specific sentence they always use to end the conversation and honestly, it feels like they are just accepting defeat lol. They say: "Ni ithokke vishwasikkuna oru divasam varum" (A day will come when you will believe all this) or "Ninakk oru downfall indaavum ann ni ithokke vishwasikkum" (You will face a downfall, and that is when you will believe).
Like, seriously? Just because I do not believe in the existence of "God," you wish a downfall upon me?
Doesn't that threat indirectly support my own theory about religion? To me, God is a human creation designed primarily for people to rely on emotionally during hard times.
People should just believe in whatever makes them happy. I was once a theist myself, but I was only taught to be one. I moved away from it and found my own happiness. If being a theist or an agnostic makes someone else happy, that is perfectly fine. People just need to learn to respect others' choices, especially when those choices only affect the individual.
I've realized I'm actually pretty bad at socializing. (As if nobody already knew. 🥀)
Whenever I meet someone new, I end up using the same few questions and phrases on repeat, pretending I know what I'm doing.
The more people I started talking to, the more obvious it became.
The only time I've ever broken the pattern was when I randomly asked an Appu,

My sense of humor doesn't help either. I'll drop a meme or a movie reference that's absolutely hilarious to me, and everyone else just looks at me like I am an anyagrahajeevi.
