My name is wrong how do I legally change while being abroad ?

I was born in Italy to immigrant parents who accidentally swapped my first and middle name on my official birth certificate when registering me, and I desperately need to fix this ASAP because my legal name is wrong. I already tried going to the Comune directly to sort it out, but they completely turned me down and said they can't do anything about it. I currently live abroad in the UK, I feel completely stuck and have no idea what the actual next step is to get my birth record corrected remotely. If you've been in a similar situation or know Italian registry law, do I have to go over to the embassy despite the insane waiting times?

How do you guys bring your clutch pedal up ?

Been doing lessons and my driving instructor has noticed that I bring my leg up to control the clutch he says this is extremely wrong however I’ve seen many people do it and been good at clutch control due to this , he had me try a new method where I keep my heel planted which works however the pedal slides under my foot , I have just watched a YouTube video who says it’s best to keep the heel to the floor slide the heel of my foot as I bring the pedal up. How do you guys do it ? I’m quite tall as well I’m aware short people tend to use their legs to control their clutch

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

What technique do you guys use to bring the clutch up ?

New instructor yesterday, he saw my main issue which was the way I was being up the clutch , by using my whole leg up and down and he was surprised that I barely stalled , probably cause of how much I use my handbrakes , but basically he’s taught me to plant my heel to ground and use the ball of my foot to bring the clutch up , which actually works cause I was able to move it more precisely. However the issue is that the clutch keeps sliding under my foot I’ve seen some videos on this , eg for example conqueror driving only tends to use this technique to adjust the clutch but he brings his leg to use get to the biting point , which has me wandering what does technique do you guys use to bring the clutch up ? I’d love some advice

Can a naturalised citizen join the submarine fleet

I’ve been thinking of a career in the navy for a while , I’m hoping to get myself in the submariner fleet to be able to achieve some financial stability , look at the website it says dual citizen are allowed to join obviously with restrictions which does make sense but considering the nature of the job I assume the background check would be a very hard one , so just wondering if that would rule me out

Do you think the role of a guard will still exist in the future ?

Hey all, I’m 20 and currently work part time on the railway. I really enjoy it and I’m hoping to progress to Guard in the future. The plan is to move abroad for a while first, then come back to the industry afterwards.

My worry is timing a lot of my colleagues have mentioned that several ToCs are pushing for DOO and I keep hearing debates about whether the guard role has a long term future or if it’s slowly being phased out.

but realistically within the next couple of decades, do people think guards will still be a solid career, or is DOO likely to become the industry standard everywhere? Would love to some advice people actually in the industry, especially anyone who’s seen how this has played out at their ToC over the years.

Been through 2 instructors and family lessons

Genuinely not sure what to do at this point, so hoping someone here has advice.

Instructor 1 never wasted time, was local to my parents’ area, but there was a language barrier that made it really hard to actually learn anything from him.

Instructor 2 really patient, but explained things too fast for me to keep up, had barely any availability, and on top of that kept finishing lessons up to 20 minutes early. So even with the good patience, I still felt like I was losing time and money.

After that I went back home and convinced some family to help. Did pick up a few things my uncle actually helped my steering a lot, and I learned that older petrol cars are way harder to drive than I expected. But it’s made me realise I think I actually have some kind of learning difficulty. I still get left and right mixed up, and if something isn’t explained really thoroughly and slowly, I just don’t grasp it the first (or second) time.
Tried asking a couple of friends to help too, but they all just ended up telling me to book my test instead of actually helping me practice.
Now I’m trying to ask on my university town’s subreddit for recommendations since I’ll be based there soon, but the post keeps getting removed and I don’t know why.

If anyone has tips on:

finding instructors who are properly patient and slow things down without feeling rushed
whether it’s worth looking for someone who specialises in teaching people with learning difficulties
or just general advice for someone who’s basically restarting from scratch

How do you actually feel the biting point? Older car, can’t sense anything

Doing private lessons with my uncle at the moment as I’m back home from university and I just struggle to get the biting point stalled a lot behind traffic lights
My method is normally to lift the clutch really slowly with the handbrake on until the car starts trying to move that’s how I find the biting point with my instructor. But in my uncle’s car (it’s older) I just can’t feel it the same way. No real jolt or the car trying to lurch forward like I’m used to.
I asked my mum and a couple of mates and they said they feel a kind of vibration through their legs/the pedal when they hit the biting point, but I’m not getting that at all in this car.
Is this just a “different car, different feel” thing, or is there something I might be doing wrong? Any tips for finding the biting point in any car ? I’ve watched loads of YouTube vids and most say they feel a vibration too.

Any advice would be appreciated Thanks

Test centre availability does it stay consistent or fluctuate a lot?

Trying to figure out where to book to start my lessons again hometown or uni town. I’ve noticed some test centers have loads of slots available right now while others are booked solid for months.
Does high availability at a center tend to stay that way, or does it change a lot week to week? Basically trying to work out if I should trust what I’m seeing now as a longterm pattern, or if it could get way more competitive by the time I’m actually ready (probably 3-4 months out).

Would love to hear from people who’ve watched a center’s availability over time , thank you

Should I do my driving lessons where there’s move availability?

My hometown currently has no driving test slots available. There’s my university town about 1.5 hours away with way more instructor availability and cheaper lesson rates, and I’m fine with the commute for the next month or so before I need to be back at university. Has anyone done lessons in one area and taken their test in another like this? Also wondering if an area with lots of availability now tends to stay that way for a while, or if it can change pretty fast and whether the 2026 DVSA booking changes affect any of this. Appreciate any advice

Is it possible to learn to drive manual in 2 Months ?

I’m heading back to uni in September and want to learn to drive manual before then, so I’ve got about two months. For anyone who’s done this in a similar timeframe:
Was it actually doable in 2 months?

How many lessons did you have per week?

Any tips for speeding up the learning curve without cutting corners on safety?

Would appreciate hearing from people who went from zero to confident in a short window.
Thanks

My mum has let a family of 5 move into our house and I don’t agree with it? What can I do ?

I still live at home, and my mum has allowed a family of five to stay in our house because they’ve been kicked out of where they were living.
I understand she wants to help people, but I never agreed to this, and it’s having a big impact on me. The house is already overcrowded now it’s even more overcrowded, there’s no privacy, it’s noisy, and I don’t feel comfortable in my own home anymore.
I feel guilty for being upset because I know they’re in a difficult situation, but at the same time I don’t think it’s fair that this decision was made without considering how it affects everyone else living here.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there anything I can realistically do, or do I just have to put up with it? I’d appreciate any advice.

Can’t find an instructor (North West)

Really struggling to find someone decent in Liverpool so I’m thinking of just travelling to a nearby town instead. I have a rail discounts as I’m a railway worker so train prices are pretty cheap for me, could realistically go somewhere like Wigan, Warrington, Southport, Runcorn, that sort of distance. My current instructor is charging me £80 for 2 hours, never actually does the full 2 hours, and can barely ever fit me in. Safe to say I’m done with them lol , Ideally looking for someone around £35 an hour or under with decent regular availability like actually being able to get a lesson most weeks without waiting a month between each one, Has anyone travelled to a different town for their lessons? Did it work out alright? And how do you even find someone reliable these days, every time I look on Google it’s just the same big companies or people with no reviews. Any recommendations around Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire way would be a massive help honestly, just want to actually make some progress 😭

Is the Learn toDrive app of the Theory Test 4-in-1 app actually useful for practical lessons

Passed my theory using the official DVSA Theory Test 4-in-1 kit, and I’ve noticed the app also has a “Learn to Drive” section separate from the theory test prep stuff. About 3 driving lessons in now.

Has anyone actually used this section alongside their lessons? Does it help with the practical side (manoeuvres, hazard awareness, general driving knowledge) or is it pretty basic/skippable? Wondering if it’s worth incorporating into my routine or if instructor + on-road practice covers it better anyway.

Struggling badly with steering even in an automatic

I’m really struggling with steering while learning to drive and it’s getting embarrassing honestly. Even in an automatic I was struggling to judge turns properly and keep control of the steering smoothly.

It feels like my coordination/reaction to turns is just really bad and I’m struggling with basic skills that everyone else seems to get quickly.

A couple of my friends recommended getting a racing sim setup or even just playing driving games more to help with steering and judging corners. Has anyone here actually found that useful for real driving? Or is it a waste of time?

Would appreciate any advice because it’s knocking my confidence a bit.
