HC White 2 Challenge Mode - Looking for advice for on my Elite Four team!

Hi everyone, about to embark on Victory Road, not worried about the journey as my box is insane.

Looking ahead to Elite Four I'm trying to lockdown my 6 pokemon who will smash it. Important note: Krookadile is Intimidate, not moxie unfortunately.

What I've currently thought of:

Shauntai: Zoroark sets up with Nasty Plot while disguised as Jellicent in the back to bait Shadow Balls then sweeps whole team gg ez

Grimsley: Escavalier sets up with Swords Dance then sweeps the whole team. Leftovers will keep him healthy. gg ez

Caitlyn: Zoroark sets up with Nasty Plot while disguised as Jellicent in the back to bait Psychic then sweeps whole team gg ez

Marshal: Cry and prey? Jellicent does stuff, I can't see a safe line though. Maybe just whole 6 team effort. I can't exactly figure out Marshal.

Iris: Draco Plate Flygon will outspeed and OHKO Hydreigon and then I tempo with hopefully 6 pokemon gg ez I will work this out, I beat Ghetsis on vibes alone.

I think this is my Six Pokemon:

Core:
-Flygon
-Jellicent
-Zoroark
-Escavalier

Iris fight pivots:
-Excadrill
-Electivire
(Groundbreaking, I know)

What do you think? Marshal scares me

My Personal rankings for main line games Nuzlocke Difficulty. Thoughts?

Ultra Sun, we know why. Totem fights are insanely difficult to come out unscathed, you must plan for every fight. Elite Four was very well made as well.

I think Black 1 over Black 2 will come as a shock.

Simply comes down to early game. Black 2 gives you way more options through encounters to answer gyms thanks to extra dex. Steelix completely walls Elesa, Vaporeon with aqua ring, acid armor, leftovers will outlast Clay's entire team. Move Reminder in PWT giving you access to incredible coverage moves early on (Electivire Fire Punch, Steelix Ice Fang).

I remember absolutely struggling in Black 1 until Brycen where we finally got a good level cap and a few solid routes! My bias against black 2 is potentially because of Challenge Mode boosting level caps, and I haven't finished it yet (im cruising through it currently though) so we'll see. I think Black 1 deserves more credit for being so resource restrictive and punishing until Gym 7 though, it felt like pushing a boulder up a hill -I learnt so much running that game.

This is why Platinum drops for me (I played Plat right after Black 1). Yes Platinum has difficult fights, but you're given like a billion options and can just brute force the game tbh. Final Cyrus fight is a nightmare!

Emerald is a very easy game until the gym fights, you need a plan for most of them, so thats why I think it deserves expert. No Physical Special split is also a challenge to navigate.

Pokemon X is deceptive, the gyms are easy af, but you'll find a random spinner trainer and they will absolutely rock your world. I think X is the perfect game to start nuzlocking, you're given so many tools, there are some nasty surprises, and mega evo is such a based mechanic.

HGSS I don't have much to say tbh, Morty was scary? Other than that it's fine. Still harder than novice tier.

Novice tier I think are the bread and butter starter games, so much fun for learning the ropes.

Thoughts?

What are some of the best routes in Pokemon games while nuzlocking?

My immediate thought was Castelia City in BW2.

Sewers, The garden, relic passage, and the desert routes FINALLY get you some good bloody choices that can carry you in through the whole game. Sandile, Darumaka, Eevee, Zubat, Scraggy, Yanmask, Sigilyph, Drilbur, Onix are all found here just to name a few.

Up until this point you've only got 5 Pokemon, this is the place you finally see the run take form.

Would love to hear about others!

What Elite Fours are "free" if you have a specific Pokemon encounter?

My prime example is Linoone in emerald, he can sweep the entire elite four and champion himself with substitute + belly drum.

Are there other examples?

I've beaten Pokemon Emerald in a hardcore nuzlocke ruleset!

One of the most cozy games for me, I still remember release day and my parents buying it for me. Gen 3 is special.

Belly Drum Linoone carried, but he brought some friends for emotional support.

Onto Black 2 Challenge mode!

Eeveelutions in BW2

I've just hit Castelia City in White 2 Challenge mode! My current pokemon are: Pignite, Purrloin, Patrat, Herdier, and Elekid

I've attached notes for the upcoming routes I've looked at, and I'm guarenteed an Eevee which is exciting.

I was thinking about which Eeveeultion to get and my first thought was Vaporeon. My whole team is currently Physical attackers, and bulky water is great coverage. I can get a stone at battle subway so it's usable against clay.

Espeon and Umbreon are two others I was thinking of, but there are others who can fill that niche. I feel like the only other good water type is starmie lol.

What is everyone's thoughts?

Hey everyone!

I'm currently working my way through a Hardcore Nuzlocke of Emerald, it's felt easy but cosy, then I will start Black 2 Challenge Mode. Once I've done these two, I've finished every game Gen 3-7. Ultra Sun was by far the hardest game, but I still beat it on the first try.

I feel like the next stage will be tackling a rom hack. I've been looking into Drayano games, was wondering how much harder they are compared to mainline games, and which one should I play first?

Thank you!

I, like many other people, usually eyeroll when I catch the Whismur. I decided to actually use it this time, and I'm seriously impressed at how good Loudred is at random trainer battles!

Neutral typing and decent bulk make him a really reliable initiator for random fights, plus being equally physical and special means you can grind game corner and really diversify the movepool -my current setup is ready for a lot of variables.

I know there are better pokemon for this role (Gyarados & Linoone for example) but I think a lot of the charm of Nuzlockes is getting out of those comfort zones and seeing what you can do. Also I would be way more upset to see Gyarados faint lets be honest here so there's another benefit lol.

Loudred is the perfect 7/10 pokemon!
