I wouldn't recommend anyone use CrowdVolt for buying wristbands...
I had a lot of questions for them considering how new they are as a company, and the wristbands are physical. As I'm sure most of us know this year's Coachella faced a lot of issues with sellers reporting their wristbands as lost and fucking over people last minute. These answers were not satisfying to me at all. I'm sure some people will purchase their wristbands on CrowdVolt anyway and have success, but I think the lack of transparency is enough for me to say no.
Full transcript:
Me: Looking at buying tickets for Headtrip on your site, but tickets are physical wristbands. How would that get to me?
+1 (347) 716-7698:
Hi! Sellers typically ship wristbands to our New York office for verification and sorting. Buyers can then pick them up at our will-call booth starting 2 days before the festival. We’ll share more details as the event gets closer. Rest assured, your wristband will be ready for pickup before the festival.
Me: And if the seller doesn't ship the wristband or I get it and it's invalid? What would happen then? Sorry, new to CrowdVolt
+1 (347) 716-7698: If the seller is unable to ship the wristbands, we can either find you a replacement at no extra cost or issue you a full refund. If you receive the wristbands and they turn out to be invalid, you can file a dispute with valid evidence. We’ll review the case and, if confirmed, process a full refund and flag the seller accordingly.
Me: Couldn't sellers report wristbands lost after shipping and then the wristband wouldn't work? This was a common scam done with Coachella wristbands
+1 (347) 716-7698: Sellers will not be paid out until 48 hours after the event. The payment is held in escrow until then to protect buyers and ensure the wristbands provided are valid and successfully used. This gives us time to address any issues or disputes before the seller receives their payout.
Me: I see, but there is still a chance they report lost within 48 hours of the event, and then I would be in Indio with no ticket. Even with a refund, it still seems pretty risky. Has CrowdVolt handled physical wristbands before?
+1 (347) 716-7698: Yes! We’ve successfully handled and fulfilled many wristband ticket orders before. We have a process in place to verify and manage the wristbands, so you can feel confident that your order will be taken care of from start to finish.
Me: What is that verification process?
+1 (347) 716-7698: The seller will ship their wristbands to our New York office first, where our team will receive and verify them before they’re released to the buyer. We’ll also organize and securely hold the wristbands until the scheduled will-call pickup.
This way, the wristband is in our possession before the buyer receives it, allowing us to address any issues before the event.
Me: Yes, but how does the team "verify" them? There's no way to tell if the wristband is valid if you're not Goldenvoice as far as I'm aware. And where is will-call pickup? The pickup isn't affiliated with Headtrip right?
Sorry about all the questions, CrowdVolt is a very new platform so just feel like I have to do my due diligence
+1 (347) 716-7698: We’ll handle the verification process on our end. We’ll also provide buyers with more details and pickup instructions as the event date gets closer.
