Arlo & Jacob’s or Next Sofa?

I like two sofas so far for our house:

  1. Arlo & Jacob - Otto/ Otto
    https://www.arloandjacob.com/otto-large-sofa

  2. Next - Hutton Deep
    https://www.next.co.uk/homeware/sofas-chairs/hutton-deep-relaxed-sit/size-4-seater-sofa-fabric-plush-velvet-easy-clean-ginger-orange-feet-country-turned-mid

Aside from the style, the main thing we want is something that is comfortable to sit and lounge on. Style and comfort wise we very slightly lean to the Arlo & Jacob’s one. However, the price tag means that one is £2k more than the Next one.

I’m looking for advice on which one to go for. Is it better to just get the one from Next which we also love and is very comfy or to may a lot more to go for something that is better quality? Is the quality £2k more better?

For the moment they both seem great but I can’t tell in 1,5,10 years time which one would be better.

Fill hearth with gold

We’re restoring our floors and have a hearth from an old fireplace still in the room. Unfortunately the hearth is cracked. I’m not sure what material it is but it’s a Victorian terrace in London. My husband has the idea that kintsugi could be a beautiful way of restoring it. How would you recommend we do this?

Painting over paint samples

I’ve decided to paint the wall a pale pink (setting plaster farrow and ball) so I’ve been sanding down the samples. How far should I sand for the colour not to be noticeable when painted over? I’m worried that you’re going to be able to see the dark colour under the pink. The one on the left is the one we’re going with

Painting glossy cupboard doors

I’m wanting to uplift the kitchen but having the doors blue. However trying to do this in the cheap. Could I paint over these? If so how’s the best way to do it? I was thinking of putting in a handle too to make time look nice

Are these floor boards or sub floors? Can I bring them back to life?

Hello, we’ve looked under the carpet and found these floorboards. I want to know whether, if I remove all the carpet, I can sand them down, fill the gaps and vanish them to use? Or whether I would need to put flooring on top?

If I can use them what tips do you have to refurb them?

How to remove woodchip wallpaper from the celling

hello, I’m looking at removing wood wallpaper from the ceiling of a few rooms in the house. My understanding is that I could use a steamer and scrape it to get rid of the wallpaper and then scrape and clean any residue glue or adhesive. Then filling any gaps and sand down. Then use a primer/ sealer before painting. Is this right?
