Made this in a plastic trash can over the last few months
First successful compost production. It was easier than I thought.
There was a point it had lots of fruit flies or gnats, I just soaked it and added cardboard scraps on top then kept the lid shut for a week.
Also thought I had a roach infestation but only ended up finding a couple turkestan roaches in the bin. I made sure the bottom of the can was flush against dirt and didn’t have space beneath it.
Made this in a 32gal plastic trash can. I drilled holes in the bottom and side of the can.
Included: food scraps (no meat), egg shells, old garden plants, 5 gal bucket of soil from our yard that I collected while digging holes for corn plants, coffee grounds, cardboard scraps from Amazon boxes, tree leaves and branches.
I also added worms after getting some soil in there and think they really did helpful work.
Next is to integrate it into my veggie garden
