New $300K Harlingen detention pond to provide flood relief for RGV communities
My favorite part - “Once completed, it will hold 10 football fields worth of stormwater.”
It’s long. Neat. So how about depth? Total volume? 10 football fields thats 2 feet deep? 10 feet deep?
And isn’t this already a flood plain area?

valleycentral.comIs there another option for a missing package that very likely was taken by the carrier?
I have a serious issue with the USPS carrier in south Texas (McAllen). I have this logged under multiple case numbers, all for the same issue. I have no idea what to do next and any help would be greatly appreciated.
A package containing some expensive jewelry (tracking number ending in 7 628) was initially marked as delivered to my business address on 6/22/26 at 5:29 PM.
It was, in fact, not delivered.
I called the USPS customer service number (800-275-8777) and filed an initial statement, saying that my package was not delivered. I stated I have cameras everywhere at my business and no postal worker made any delivery at all from 4-7 PM, and to make things even better, there were no customers in the building or anywhere outside the store from 4-7 PM. I have these cameras backed up, and would be happy to show that NO ONE was in or outside the building from 4-7 PM as proof.
I was given a case number ending in 7 177.
I called the national 800 number a few days later asking for an update on the case ending in 7 177, and was told the local McAllen postal representative closed the case, stating the item "was delivered".
I immediately asked to re-file, re-stating my camera proof of non-delivery and to ask which carrier made this delivery.
The toll free rep agreed that closing the request like that was odd, and issued a new case number ending in 7 180. (Note: All of these case numbers are permanent and viewable in the USPS system and all case numbers reference each other)
Here's where it gets ugly.
I called the national 800 number a few days later to follow up on the case number ending in 7 180, and I was told by the rep on the national 800 number that the case was marked as closed since, according to the notes from the McAllen office, "the package was found and re-delivered to the correct address on 6/26/26 and handed to an individual."
There was no delivery to my business on 6/26/26.
The national 800 rep also said it was very odd that the courier did not re-scan the package, did not return it to the McAllen center to verify, and that the courier did not state in the notes who they handed the re-delivery to at my business or note the time they supposedly re-delivered the package.
Here's the best part. I have 24 hours of camera recordings for 6/26/26 and there are NO package deliveries of the missing item.
I asked the for the claim to be re-re-opened, and was given a case number ending in 11 72.
A few days later, I called the national 800 number again to follow up (NOTE: In this entire time, I never received any emails or phone calls from the local McAllen office on the status of my package investigation)
This time I was told by the toll free rep that the case was closed again, and the local McAllen office now said in their response that "I need to file a claim for compensation AND start a missing mail report."
None of this seems right to me.
How can the local carrier mis-state they delivered the package on 6/22/26 initially, then somehow FIND the package they stated in their report had already been delivered, and then say they would re-deliver it with no scans, tracking or proof of delivery on 6/26/26?
It is frustrating to have lost this item, and even more frustrating to think this is because of a carrier that is being willfully inaccurate in their statements of delivery and possession.
I would be happy to share the cameras for every day of the supposed deliveries, and also the testimonials of the workers who say they did not receive any deliveries either.
I filed both a missing mail report and a lost item / claim of value as per the last case number ending in 1172's recommendation. The missing mail report is still "in progress", but the claim was already denied twice because "the package was delivered as addressed".
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time in reading all of this.
EDIT: The jewelry item is a Clocks and Colours North Star Necklace in silver.

Garcia-Kalifa family to open $1.6M food hall in downtown Edinburg
A member of the new “downtown steering committee” in Edinburg, the committee I posted a few days ago that are spending millions of the city’s money to “revitalize” downtown? This member JUST HAPPENS to be opening a $1.6 million “food hall”… downtown!!
What an absolute surprise! Benefiting from AND steering the city’s downtown project!

Edinburg plans downtown refresh with new master plan in the works
Hey all you Edinburg political geniuses planning this multi million dollar “refresh”. The center of downtown Edinburg is a giant fucking courthouse. That puts a giant HELL NO on any party / nightlife / social scene in the area. The focus is going to have to be on pure, upright, super clean “family” events only.
Here’s some ideas:
First, prosecute the vermin that built that massive courthouse that’s falling apart despite being new construction. That will show the city isn’t about bribes and kickbacks and has some integrity.
Second, build some fucking parking garages so everyone has a place to park (how the fuck are you idiots going to accommodate all the vehicles that’s going to come to the “refresh” when you can’t even handle day to day courthouse parking?)
Third, fix the roads heading into the center. When’s the last time the roads were refreshed and repaved?
Or the city vermin will just smoke this “refresh” money and nothing will change (like I think will happen.)

Refill request for a "Sonic Screwdriver" dual ink pen
I have an older "Sonic Screwdriver" pen that when you twist the mid section, it lets you choose green or black ink. Unfortunately, the green ink finally dried out and the black ink is fading fast. Can anyone help with what ink it might use? The Sonic's ink is bigger than a Schmidt 635 D1 series, but smaller than a standard Parker refill. Any help greatly appreciated!

Train full stop at business 83
A massively long train has shut down north south McAllen traffic on business 83. Bicentennial, 23rd and 5+ roads west and east in that area are blocked.
Train is at a full stop.
Great time for it!
20 minutes and still going.
EDIT: Blinking yellow means cars can proceed through. Blinking red means cars must stop. It’s not a 4-way stop at every intersection ya’ll.
