Starting an army

I’ve always loved the Deathwatch, their style is unmatched and the opportunity to be able to kitbash a marine from whichever chapter you can think of really appeals to me. I already own the kill team (although not finished yet) I am also going to convert the new Warhammer+ model into a deathwatch captain or something.

My question comes about expanding an army from this point, is it better to buy a squad of say Intercessors and then source shoulder pads or should it be another deathwatch kill team for shoulder pads and deathwatch bits and then source the weapons I require instead? I don’t have a 3d printer and I’m bot sure anyone in the local gaming group has one either so wouldn’t be able to source stl’s ir anything. What do other people do?

Should I buy the codex?

Sorry if this has been asked loads since 11th announcement, if it has please link a previous post and I will delete this.

I am looking to expand from Kill Team to bighammer for 11th and as such would like to be able to view all the rules. However, with no roadmap on when codex’s will be released it is difficult to know when we might get the aeldari codex for 11th. I am also only at a couple of hundred points so not in a place to actually play a game yet. I am also aware that the elder codex was a late one in 10th (which may indicate it’ll be viable for a bit longer? Or could conversely mean it is prioritised earlier in 11th)

So my dilemma is:
Should I pick up the 10th codex for the code? Or just continue building up and await the new codex release?
