Appreciation post for u/dannyraj

Got these 3 Agatha Christie novels from u/dannyraj123 last week.

His prices seemed very fair and to be honest, economical enough to fit my humble budget.

He has been entirely transparent about the conditions of the books and sent me pictures of covers and the inner pages as well. And when I asked for a negotiation regarding the initial prices, he agreed to adjust.

The packaging was decent, as the books have been delivered without any serious handling damage. Looking forward to reading these 3 mysteries now.

I'd recommend him to you folks, happily !

Mad Sisters of Esi — Anyone want to sell second hand copy?

Pretty much the title.

Fresh copies are too expensive on Amazon. Would love to get a pre loved one.

Is this Legit ? Anyone bought from this pub?

Agatha Christie books are expensive AF, at least ₹300 even after discounts and presently I'm very broke.

There's always the option of downloading an ebook as Christie novels are widely available online, but I really like to read hard copies when possible.

Saw this publisher yesterday Pharos books private limited selling their own edition of Aghatha Christie Novels in Flipkart. They have quite a good number of Christie books in line, almost 10-15 and all costs around 150-180.

Would it be safe to buy from them? Has anyone had any experience with this?

A hidden gem for fans of horror

So, I'm a huge fan of all things horror. While choosing a novel/ anthology/ movie/ series whatever it may be, I always go looking for a creepy, terrifying one first.

I first heard John's name from the preface of another horror anthology I was reading a few months ago.

Read his novel "The Fisherman". It was quite a tough read. A literary horror densely packed with complex myths, metaphors, eldritch creatures, grief and the turmoils of humanity. It took time, like all slow burns do. In the end, it felt worth the time and patience. Then, I completely forgot John Langan.

I was scrolling through facebook yesterday when a post popped up in some literature forum I'm a member of. The author's name struck a chord. I know this man. And the comment section also proved, a lot of people love reading him.

Got a few name drops in there, mostly his earlier short story collections.

Started with this one. So good so dark. Recommending this to all the horror fans in this sub.

A classic, cozy read

Bought a set of 3 Agatha Christies from Flipkart, a few years back. This one is a box collection named "World's favourite Christie", published to celebrate the 125th birthday of the author. The set contains the Top 3 choices from a list of best Poirot and Marple books picked by her fans globally, including -

  1. And then there were none

  2. Murder on the Orient Express

  3. Murder of Roger Ackroyd

I finished the first one right away and then got busy, forgot about the other two altogether, and left the box to gather dust on the bookshelf.

A friend bought some Christie books last week. Seeing her collection made me remember that I have some unread books myself.

Started with the Orient Express. The plot is thick and intricate with deception, lies, loyalty, crooked sense of justice, moral dilemmas and a huge red herring.

At this point, the book is a classic by its own virtue so I am not going to review or analyse anything. It would suffice to say that I have enjoyed it immensely. And the ending, albeit unexpected, left me with a pleasant sense of satisfaction.

Most of you have read it already. If not, make sure to grab a copy and jump into an unforgettable journey, very soon.

Absolute Cinema 🙌

Algeria played well. The defenders didn't forget to mark and block, the wingers got their speed, the midfielders prepared the play and the strikers made quite a few good efforts to put the shots on target.

Not another one sided pushover at all.

And yet, the magic happened anyway. It had to happen!!!

The first man to play 6 FIFA world cups.

And with 16 goals, the TOP goal scorer in the history of FIFA world cup, jointly up there with another absolute legend Miroslav Klose.

Regardless of what awaits the Albiceleste this time, the beginning looked confident, like a complete fan service.

I had my first accident since I started riding

Earlier this week, I had an accident.

It was rough. My motorcycle lost its grip. I didn't see it coming.

It was not over speeding and I can't really say it rash driving. There was no collision or evasion either.

My bike skidded across the muddy, wet road, throwing me to the opposite side.

I pass that stretch of road daily during my commute to workplace, usually in 5th gear, at somewhere near 60-65 kmph.

That day, due to heavy rain a few hours ago, I was riding at 40 kmph. That’s the only reason I am alive to write this.

As I lost control, I tried to land safely. My whole focus was on the futile effort to regain balance somehow. I failed.

As my head hit the hard, rough ground, I suddenly realized something—that I might die right there.

Anytime then.

This was a busy road. So many vehicles were passing through in both directions. The people driving them were in a hurry to reach home, to eat lunch, to kiss their loved ones, to play with their kids. So was I.

And any one of them could have run over me. That would have been an accident, too. I don't know if I could blame them.

For the first time in my life, I thought I was going to die. It was a matter of a split second. A brake pulled too late. A steering wheel veered not enough. A heavy wheels of a overloaded truck that was meant to go around, but failed.

But it didn't happen. That moment never came. I got up, pulled the bike up from the ground, while bleeding from my arm and knee. My helmet cracked open. The opposite shoulder went numb and immobile. The real pain was yet to come.

The people around were surprisingly helpful. No one blamed me, no one judged, and neither a single one of them said an unkind word.

They came running. They helped me get up and catch my breath; many asked me if I needed help reaching home, with earnest concern.

Death told me I still have many things left to do.

The fear of death parted with me, leaving this story behind.

It tells me life is beautiful. Even more so with good people around.

(And also, it doesn't matter if you ride a Continental GT 650 or dad's 10 years old worn down Activa, YOU AS A HUMAN BEING ARE EXTREMELY FRAGILE ANYWAY.

So, please wear a helmet, even if it's a cheap one. I could have cracked my skull open.

Ride safe with your eyes peeled open and your brain in high alert mode. Accidents often get you in the most unexpected places, in your very familiar, Mahalla wale roads because we tend to think we are invincible in our local streets)

Something that still troubles me deeply

Based on a real incident, experienced by the OP a few months back.

Read a Facebook debate today where this physiotherapist slams a orthopedic doctor for not referring to a physiotherapist first and writing exercises on his own (I don't know what's wrong with suggesting exercises, ortho doc isn't doing the therapy himself, right!! Still sending for a physio)

In the comment section there is this war regarding prefix usage because that OP uses Dr. XYZ PT .

He claims central government has conferred the title. Here's the screenshot from NCAHP physio curriculum document that the OP referred to.
