Chanel Reveuse

My birthday is coming up, and this polish reminds me of my birthstone, peridot. I don’t have Chanel Peridot but this is truer to the actual gemstone anyway.

Chanel comparison - Rouge Noir vs. Vamp

After years of gathering dupes and near dupes of Rouge Noir, I finally got the real thing, and it does not disappoint. First photo is Rouge Noir, purchased very recently. In 2023, Chanel renumbered Rouge Noir from 18 to 155; mine is 155. (Other shades were also renumbered - Pirate went from 08 to 151).

Second photo is Vamp, shimmer version. From what I gather, in 2003, Chanel added shimmer to the original non-shimmery Vamp. The shimmer version became Vamp, and the non-shimmer version became Rouge Noir. Both were numbered 18 (so confusing) till around 2016 when Vamp was discontinued. I think my bottle is from around 2013. I didn’t even know it would have shimmer when I got it.

I prefer Rouge Noir!

Chanel polish mini spam

I’ve been going through my Chanel stash. My manis have been red-heavy lately. I just took off Rouge Moire.

Essence polish spam

I’ve been wearing my Essence polishes lately and I think they don’t get enough love. They are mostly creams, good formulas and have a wide curved brush.

Essence That’s the Spirit

I know it’s the middle of summer and I know this is more of a fall shade, but I don’t care! I just love this brownish brick red.

2003 Wet’n’Wild Hip

I thrifted this beauty some time ago and finally got around to wearing it. It’s a bit streaky and more sheer than I’d like, but I do appreciate its pearliness. This is 3 coats.

1995 Wet’n’Wild Ice Blue Pearl

This is one of my favorite polishes ever. It’s super sheer with an intense blue flash. My nails are too stained to wear this on its own so I’m wearing it over a neutral (Wet’n’Wild Yo Soy, which is old but not quite vintage). My phone camera is going berserk trying to handle this blue flash.

Essence polish

This polish is by essence - Pearls are a Girl’s Best Friend, a sheer polish with a pinky peach iridescence. This is three coats and it’s almost enough to hide my staining.

Essence Chic Reloaded

Shopping my stash, and I’ve had this polish for at least a decade. It’s a charcoal base that shifts slightly purple, pink and teal. These polishes look best in the shade so I used indirect light to take this photo. My skin tone looks off, but I managed to capture the various tones of the polish.

90s Avon Stroke of Salmon

This polish was called Single Stroke in the US, and One Stroke in Canada, meant to be full coverage in one coat and quick drying. This line was launched in 1987 and was still available till the mid 90s. I’m not sure how old this one is so I’m going with 90s. It looks like a bright warm red in the photo but it’s really more of a bright orangey coral.

2002 Avon Mirror in Spark

Nothing mirror about this, in my opinion. It’s nice enough but it doesn’t give the chrome finish like the rest of this line; it’s also a bit lumpy and hard to use.

2002 OPI Sun Streaked

From the Surf Party collection. I was gifted this polish in 2003 by a lovely coworker after starting a new job.
