Any good tailgate suv tents?

I bought a hasika tailgate tent and was really disappointed. The fit was bad on my crosstrek and left gaps all over. Any other recommendations? Im not looking for a seperate tent you can attach. I liked having the tailgate tent just not the brand.

Turned down a camper because of OEM hitch and pin

To begin, I own a crosstrek wilderness. Its rated to tow 3500 lbs. I was about to buy an aframe camper that weighed in at 1800 lbs. Perfect. But I backed out. Heres the reason. The oem hitch was only rated for 1500 lbs. Why did subaru put a 1500 lb oem hitch on a vehicle that can tow 3500 lbs. Are they being cheap or dont trust their vehicle. Either way it Felt like a red flag. Next subaru uses a 4 pin trailer hook up. Meaning no trailer breaks. I camp in the mountains, trailer breaks are a necessity. That's a 7 pin set up for breaks. Why would they put a 4 pin if breaks are needed? 3500 lbs should come with a 7 pin set up. I know people will say buy a bigger hitch and buy the camper. Or they dont requre trailer breaks at that weight. But this car hits 6k or more rpm on some of the passes with no trailer, does subaru trust a car in this situation when the oem equiptment can't handle it? I feel the car is not really designed to pull heavy weight. Thoughts?

May have just lost a incredible campsite due to wildfires in Colorado

**UPDATE

Well maybe some promising news. People are cancelling their reservations and I was able to get the same site a few weeks later. I might also try some FF sites to the northwest. I was also bouncing the idea around of some backpacking instead. We have everything we need to pack in. We spent a few days on the Appalachian Trail last fall and restocked our gear then. I'm looking into permits for the Holy Cross area now. I just got to convince the wife. Its legit bear country and you hike in with bells, clapping and yelling "HEY BEAR" I think she's done with that and wants to buy wood have a fire ring and fold up chairs

ORIGINAL POST

TL;DR my campground was evacuated due to forest fires.

When camping or just passing through, my wife will would take notes of some of the prettiest campgrounds and nicest sites. As expected, we are not the only ones and the best sites are snapped up quickly. We were never able to get what we considered a "5 star" site, but we have had some beautiful sites and were always happy if there were trees and the toliets and other camp sites were further away.

We finally got lucky and got a lakefront site on Turquoise Lake out by Leadville Colorado! Stunning views Absolutely beautiful. Surrounded by trees. 10k feet above sea level. 70 degree highs, Fresh pine filled mountain air. No campfire wanted by me. Just the lake, mountains and stars. A perfect July in Colorado. I was ecstatic. I took extra days off work and our trip is in a week. ANNNNNDDDDD.... they just evacuated some of the surrounding campgrounds due to wild fires. I dont have confirmation of cancelation yet, but im keeping my fingers crossed. Its a probable canceled vacation for many people. This fire is 0% contained and no real plan to stop it. In Colorado, we are going through record setting lows in precipitation this year and record setting high temps these past few winter months. The Rocky Mountains are a tinderbox. White water rafting companies are facing permanent closure. There are fires popping up everywhere. There are 5 major fires that are a real concern. There is just not enough resources to control them. The Rocky Mountains will become treeless mudslides. Yes, a bit dramatic but a real concern in some areas. Trees and grass hold the dirt to the rock and prevent erosion. Anyways. Still planning on going. Wish me good vibes.

Help designing a new tattoo

Hi everyone. I am getting a new tattoo and I am looking for someone to help design it. I dont want copies of some other artist's work or somebody elses tattoo. I have one of those and I like it, but something copied feels off. I'd like to tattoo someone's original art on my body, made specifically for me. Im looking for The Three Wisemen monkeys, in a scetch format. I see a ton of cool ones but id like something original. I'd pay a fair price, I'm not looking to rip somebody off.

Thanks! a a second thanks if I'm in the wrong place and you point me the right way.

Something disappointing about the Wilderness.

Subaru makes no OEM roof crossbars for the wilderness. All other 2024 crosstreks have an optional OEM crossbars. But not the wilderness. I really dont like aftermarket set ups like yakima or thule, I prefer a more low profile. The standard wilderness side rails are rated 185ish. Pretty standard, nothing special. The Yakima after market crossbars are rated for 165 lbs (non static, driving down the road). Pretty standard. I can't imagine OEM crossbars can't be made to hold 165 lbs or more. I literally called 5 dealerships and they all said Subaru does not make OEM crossbars for the wilderness. I did a shit ton of research and came up the same answer. I ended up with a yakima set up. Paid around 550 at REI. a dealership offered the same ones to me for 675 +75 installation. Installation is pretty straight forward, I think i can handle it.

$1 to cut a burger in half??

My wife and I try to be frugal by sharing large meals at restaurants. We only go out to dinner if we are planning to share. We know this place that has huge burgers. Perfect. We tell the waiter we are sharing the burger. On the bill was a one dollar charge to cut the burger in half. What??? We talked to the manager and had the charge removed. Check your bills people. They are always trying to sneak in extra charges.
