Is There A Way To Fix This?

This had a top piece attached and now looks awful after taking it off. Is there a way to fix this?? The red circle is a layer missing and the rest are all an added layer from taking off a piece that was attached on top.

Any help is appreciated! This is my wife’s project and she’s upset with how it looks and is unsure how to fix it.
