What did your school/board do today to recognize your invaluable contributions to education? I’m retired now, but my favourite memory was the director sending a one sentence email to all staff at 9:00 pm when she finally realized what day it was. I think we also had apples in the staff room one year, but they were supplied by the union.
Have a 2017 Crosstrek with 125km on the clock. Service at an independent shop who always puts an 8k interval on my sticker ( despite 10k recommendation in manual). Coming up to 8k soon, but hoping to wait until winter tire changeover in November. It’s been a year since last oil change. In Canada, so some wintry driving conditions but mostly short trips around town with the occasional highway journey. Should I change oil now or wait until the fall?

So in the USA schools will be employing drones to deal with active shooters. Apparently teachers will have the authority to ‘RELEASE THE DRONES’. Could be a good classroom management tool as well.

So halfway through the summer, still July and school starts very late this year-although some PD the week before Labour Day (Sept 7). Would you say we are at peak chilling? Still 39 sleeps until we see kids. Thoughts?
In case you’re unawares, the Fields Medal is considered the Nobel prize of mathematics. Waterloo and math are synonymous in Canada. The first time in its 94 year history it’s awarded to a Canadian university prof and it goes to Toronto. Thoughts?
