Is there no way to try out move sets without investing?

I feel like I've bricked the character due to wanting to try out different weapons, and the game doesn't give you rank zero weapons for all the different types. On top of that, you have to spend points to unlock weapon arts, which again can be very good or really terrible. In Monster Hunter, you can't brick your character by trying different weapons.

Nothing feels worse than spending an hour getting mats to try out a weapon only to find out it's not something you are ever going to use again.

Trying to fight off a "quit moment" here due to enjoying the art, and the combat in general, but this might be a deal breaker.

How did you all handle this kind of thing? I'm assuming the folks still here stuck it out or worked around it somehow.

Extinction builds and some rambling from an old head.

Greetings! Long time player, since the Desura days, and I'm finally loading up 42 again after about six months away. Extinction is great! It drastically changes the meta in a very fun way.

Pretty sure Fitness Instructor + Fit is S tier. Consider working it into your builds. Why? Because there WILL be times where the RNG decides to send 3 or 4 screechers after you out of the blue. When that happens, you need to be able to outrun them. This build can do that and if you're careful about not pushing too hard each day, you should be able to consistently get to safety. You'll need to know your maps so you know where to run to. Just like with regular zombies, you can use fences to create space and break line of sight. If your'e desperate, you can do things like sprint all the way down the river in Riverside or West Point until there's no more zeds.

Fitness Instructor with Fit gives you 10 Fitness and 6 Strength, which is perfectly servicable for combat builds.

Your negatives haven't changed much. Thin Skinned, Conspicious, Prone to Illness, Slow Healer, Short Sighted, Slow Reader, and Weak Stomach are all still "auto picks" unless you particularly dislike them. Dexterous, Outdoorsy, Cat Eyes, and Wakeful are still S tier picks even after the adjustments, whichever you prefer. I'm also partial to the new Crafty skill since all the crafting skills are the ones that take the longest to work up.

Love the new mode! It's great that we can chat about a mode with objectivity that includes sprinters (not a big fan of custom sandbox).
