Floating Names Gone
So today I broke my client.
I had Threat Plates installed and it has been great on my main. Big help in reducing and managing my aggro while in dungeon and just looks clean with how I had it setup. I went on an alt and tried to load the profile from my main and then realized all Names (I want to specify this as it caused a lot of confusion) on NPCs and Enemies were gone. I messed around a bit and couldn’t get it to work so I went DEEP down the rabbit hole for about 4 hours now and the only thing that will show an NPCs name above their head is setting my Interface option under Names to ALL NPCs. Hostile or Interactable setting does not work. It shows nothing but a ! or ? above the NPC’s head and nothing above an Enemy’s head unless I target them.
Okay that’s fine, but I now can see all NPCs and Enemies Names from about 500 yards away. I’m talking FP fly over I can see crabs on the sea floor. Fine, I’ll adapt and use Threat Plates to show what I need.
My question is now is Plater a better option to control what I see on screen? I’ve tried every CVar script you can imagine. Deleted Cache, deleted WTF, deleted Saved Variables, reset Game Settings from Bnet launched, evrything. Nothing will fix this issue and as far as I can tell a full clean wipe and reinstall won’t work either. So what are my options?
Again I don’t want Nameplates. I want Floating Names like the game comes with default and if I can’t use that then I’ll use Plater or what I have now which is ALL NPCs on and looking at mob from 500 yards out.
Nobody in guild or anywhere I’ve talked to has ever heard of such a thing so I’m here now reaching out to you kind folk. Thanks again for taking the time.
Also: I guess people play with this option on all the time to see every NPCs name on the screen apparently. Insanity.
Also also: I do not want nameplates on everyone and eveything around me. I am fully aware of what V does and every incantation of pressing it with other modifiers.
