Should my goal weight be my actual goal weight?

I lost about 18 pounds earlier this year, and then went to maintenance mode for about two months and saw the scale jump up 3-5 pounds and just bounce around that new number.

I'm now back in a deficit trying to lose the rest of my goal, already down another 4ish pounds from where it was during that maintenance break. Should I be aiming for a lower weight than I want to actually be once I'm in maintenance? I have seen some other posts indicating that you can expect to gain back a few pounds once you go into maintenance.

Any therapists go through this?

I'm a therapist, so I use my face for work. Okay, many of us use our faces for work. But mine is a pretty critical tool.

Has anyone gone through jaw surgery and had it affect their work beyond the initial healing process? Obviously, I would take plenty of time off to heal, but it looks like there is an extended period where you are kind of relearning how to use your face (smile, etc.).

I'm still in early consults, but I'm wondering if this makes it a nonstarter for me.

CICO in multi-person household

Are are y'all who are parents of littles and/or partnered up doing CICO, especially for dinner? My partner and I share cooking and he is not doing CICO. We just cook from scratch and don't ever use recipes. My diet is becoming a source of tension — he's supportive but also doesn't wanna watch/measure/count everything when he's cooking.

Thoughts?

Recent referral for eval

Long story short, I've had many dentists over the years tell me I need surgery. I had 2 or 3 oral surgeries as a kid that were terrible, along with poorly done orthodontics, so to say I hate dental work is an understatement.

I just now got a referral from my current dentist for an orthodontist and surgeon. He'd previously fitted me for aligners telling me the result would be sub par, but respected when I said hell no to the idea of surgery. I told him this week I'm actually open to getting more info.

I have a jaw size discrepancy, my lower jaw is slightly smaller than my upper jaw. My teeth are very narrow, and my molars don't touch on one side. I had a sleep study years ago, and do not have sleep apnea. But my mouth is very crowded and chewing is difficult. Besides the narrow teeth (which I feel doesn't give me a full smile), I don't really have any aesthetic motivations.

I'm a woman in my 40s, and have felt like my mouth is a mess for so many years, but my past history combined with how intense this surgery is, combined with the idea of having braces in my 40s, all make me really nervous about the idea.

Anyone else with a similar situation who can weigh in on what they chose and why and the outcome?

Obviously I will get more info from the orthodontist, but I'm just starting to try to wrap my head around it.

I lost about 16 pounds (by dieting) in the first 2-3 months of this year, while on a low dose of nortriptyline. Headaches and migraines got worse in March, so I've now been on 75mg for about 6 weeks. Still dieting, same as before, but my stomach is considerably bigger and the number on the scale is sloooowly going up. Also feeling constipated. It's marginally improving headaches.

I eat a ton of fruits and veggies, plus a fiber supplement. What can I do to keep things moving, both gut-wise and metabolism?

FINALLY having an intake with neurology next week so will talk to him about it, but am eager to start counteracting the side effects asap.
