[HIRING] Part-Time Full-Charge Bookkeeper + Payroll | Remote (US only) | W-2 | $30–35/hr.
We're a small, mostly remote CPA and advisory firm headquartered in North Carolina serving small-business clients. We're looking for an experienced bookkeeper to own a portfolio of clients from start to finish, including payroll.
The role
- 20–25 hours a week to start, with room to grow
- W-2 employee, not a 1099 contract
- Must live and be authorized to work in the US
- Must generally be available during core Eastern business hours [core hours 10am–3pm EST]
What you'll do
- Handle monthly bookkeeping for your client portfolio: categorizing transactions, bank and credit card reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close
- Run payroll for those same clients (fewer than 10)
- Be the first person who works on each account. Escalations go to the owner or a senior staff member, but you're expected to handle routine work on your own.
You're a fit if you have
- 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping. Experience at an accounting firm or managing multiple clients is a strong plus.
- Strong QuickBooks Online skills and experience running payroll
- Comfort with technology and accuracy without anyone checking behind you
- An interest in staying in a hands-on bookkeeping role for the long term
Who we are
We're a small, mostly virtual CPA and advisory firm, and we like it that way. We work with small businesses. Many have been with us for years, and we know their books, their quirks and usually their dog's name. Our clients don't feel like account numbers, and neither do our team members.
What it's like to work here
- We actually like our clients, and we show it. We answer quickly, explain the numbers in plain English, and flag problems before they turn into surprises. If you enjoy being the person a business owner trusts with their books, you'll fit in.
- Small team, no red tape. Have a question? Message the owner directly. Have a better way to do something? We'll probably try it.
- We're always improving. We use modern cloud tools and keep refining how we work, and we want your ideas, not just your hours.
- We're honest about busy seasons. Month-end and year-end get busy. We plan ahead for them so they don't take over your life.
Why it's a good gig: fully remote, part-time with a flexible schedule, and real full-charge work instead of data entry. We trust experienced people to manage their own work, without micromanagement.
To apply: email jobposting1.bookkeeper@gmail.com with your resume and a short answer to the following questions. Please put "Reddit – Bookkeeper" in the subject line.
- How many client books are you managing right now (or at your peak), and in what software?
- What's the last thing you check before you call a month closed?
- Which state do you live in, and can you work 10am-3pm EST as a W-2 employee?
"Please answer all three in your email. Applications without them won't be reviewed."
