WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead & Mentor: Guide a dedicated
POD of bookkeepers & tax preparers.
Advise Clients: Serve as the primary trusted advisor, reviewing financials & guiding entity setups (LLCs, S-Corps, C-Corps).
Shape Our Growth (~20%): Assist with marketing, short tax tips, and network digitally to build the firm.

ARE YOU THE ONE?
3-5 years in public accounting, bookkeeping, or tax.
1-2 years leading teams, review, or project management.
Tech-savvy with QuickBooks Online, Xero, & tax software.
High EQ, stellar communication, & growth mindset.
CPA highly preferred (or strong hands-on tax/advisory experience).

We're a small, mostly remote CPA and advisory firm headquartered in North Carolina serving small-business clients. We're looking for an experienced bookkeeper to own a portfolio of clients from start to finish, including payroll.

 The role

• 20–25 hours a week to start, with room to grow
• W-2 employee, not a 1099 contract
• Must live and be authorized to work in the US
• Must generally be available during core Eastern business hours [core hours 10am–3pm EST]

What you'll do

• Handle monthly bookkeeping for your client portfolio: categorizing transactions, bank and credit card reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close
• Run payroll for those same clients (fewer than 10)
• Be the first person who works on each account. Escalations go to the owner or a senior staff member, but you're expected to handle routine work on your own.

You're a fit if you have

• 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping. Experience at an accounting firm or managing multiple clients is a strong plus.
• Strong QuickBooks Online skills and experience running payroll
• Comfort with technology and accuracy without anyone checking behind you
• An interest in staying in a hands-on bookkeeping role for the long term

We're a small, mostly virtual CPA and advisory firm, and we like it that way. We work with small businesses. Many have been with us for years, and we know their books, their quirks and usually their dog's name. Our clients don't feel like account numbers, and neither do our team members.

Hi everyone,

I’m stepping out of my comfort zone a bit with this post, but I wanted to be honest. I launched my own practice back in July as a licensed AAT Bookkeeper based in Leicester, and to be completely transparent, the marketing and cold outreach side of things has been a real struggle.

Networking and pitching haven’t quite clicked yet, and I'm finding it tough going out there on my own!
