Going to see Bob Tonight, Kansas City

I just couldn’t pass up another opportunity to see him. I’ve seen him several times, each one memorable.

The first time I saw him, I took my oldest daughter, who was about 12. She remembers it, but she plays it cool like it was no big deal.

Tonight I’m taking my youngest daughter. She’s not familiar with his music a lot, but agreed to go.

I just hope that someday when I’m gone, and when Bob is no longer with us, they have good memories of seeing an American icon with their old man.

What’s the Pasquatch doing while Vinnie is off?

Is anyone checking on him? Is anyone feeding him? Taking care of his emotional needs?

Any Word on “The” Annual Release?

We Elvis fans have been blessed with an almost annual significant release from RCA, mostly box sets. As I look at my shelves I’m struck at how many releases we’ve been blessed with over the last few decades.

It seems that it’s about this time we get a heads up on a release to be previewed at Elvis Week.

Has anyone heard anything?

Book Recommendation

I know Q’s use, or overuse, of analytics is debated a lot. But what I didn’t know is that that science was more or less firmly implanted into the game by Earl Weaver with the Orioles.

I just sort of knew him as your old school baseball manager who had more battles with umpires than there were battles in the civil war. But this book was an eye opener. He really was a progressive baseball manager, one who made today’s manager’s jobs harder and easier at the same time.

But even watching today’s game, after finishing the book, I see his impact. All the numbers were bombarded with. The numbers the front office handles daily.

This is a great read.
