Royals game incident with staff-
I had the most bizarre situation occur at the last game I attended. I frequently go to games and share season tickets with a friend. I’ve been going to games for years with my son of whom is 34 years old with special needs and loves the Royals more than anything. Win or lose.
Our tickets are in section 129, part of the Diamond Club. My son was sitting at a table eating a hot dog that he had mistakenly put far too much ketchup on and was dripping all over his new, crispy white Bobby Witt jersey, when someone bumped into him, causing him to have an even bigger ketchup disaster. I was helping him clean up his face and hands to avoid him getting more upset, when suddenly one of the staff members in the club raced over to us like there was an emergency. I finally realized she was motioning and demanding we stand at attention for the national anthem. I was entirely focused on my son and the situation so I wasn’t paying attention to what was going on around us. I was in shock at first because the way she rushed over and spoke to us I thought something bad had happened. She continued standing there and motioning us to get up and rise and then just stood there looking at us with such evil the entire time the anthem was playing. I am not disrespectful, but was unfortunately dealing with my disabled son and a huge mess. The shaming that came from her was unbelievable. I can’t get rid of the icky feeling I have now every time I think about going back there. This is a place I’m normally very comfortable and everyone knows him and has always been so nice. It was so strange.
