I'm 16 and I want to move in with my girlfriend when I'm 17, I need advice from more mature people
Hello,
I am posting here because I am really lost and I would like to get advice from people older than me, who may have already been through this kind of situation
I am 16 and my girlfriend is 17, we have been together for almost 3 months, but we have known each other since March
We have already spent several days living together and it went really well, we get along extremely well, we have pretty similar habits and we both see ourselves living together
I know some people will probably think that at our age, 3 months of relationship is nothing, and I completely understand why
But on my side, I don't feel like this is just a simple "teenage crush" I have already been in other relationships before and this relationship feels really different to me I am convinced that she is the person I want to build something with, and she feels the same way, and on top of that I still have 1 year to see how our relationship develops before making a decision
The plan would be to move to Paris after I graduate from high school, she will be 18 and I will be 17 at that time
She lives in Paris and I live in the south of France, I could study in Paris in a program that interests me just as much as the ones I could have done in the south, so it's not like I would be giving up my studies or choosing a program I don't like just because of her
The idea would therefore be to study in Paris and, if everything is still going well in a year, get an apartment together
The problem is that my parents will probably never agree with this idea, especially because I will still be 17 when I leave
So I have a lot of questions : do you think this is a bad idea at our age ? Does having a year to prepare really change anything ? Can living together at 17-18 actually work ? What are the difficulties that people don't necessarily think about when they idealize this kind of project ? And most importantly, what do you wish you had known before making a similar decision ?
I am not necessarily looking for people to tell me "go for it" or "absolutely don't do it"
I would really like to hear experiences and advice from more mature people, even if it means telling me things I don't want to hear
I am just asking that nobody insults me for no reason, even if I am a teenager who looks like he wants to make an immature decision, I am here because I need help and not to get shit on (I can still tell the difference between negative criticism and pointless insults)
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to answer
Summary: I'm 16 and my girlfriend is 17, and we've been together for almost 3 months. We want to move in together in Paris in about a year, when I'll be 17 and she'll be 18. I could study in Paris in a program that interests me just as much as the ones available near me, so I'm not giving up my future just for the relationship. My parents will probably strongly oppose the idea, and I'm feeling lost about whether this is actually a good decision at our age. I'm looking for honest advice and experiences from more mature people, including the potential problems we might not be thinking about.
