Need to move within 2 months - immediate next step

Good afternoon all,

I have been offered a position at a job I previously held that will be a pay increase as well as a better opportunity. I am just running into a bit of "next step" pickle. I am looking to get a small loan ($5-10K, the latter would be ideal) to cover moving expenses. The company is not offering relocation with the role. The biggest problem I'm running into is obtaining such on such short notice.

A little back story, my credit card debt is quite high (~$16k) and is maxed out. I moved to where I am currently to live at home and pay off a previous collection which prevented me at the time from getting a new place. Once I paid it and was able to move, my job (100% commission) really took a blow in consistency and has caused me to fall behind. It really wasn't great while living with no rent, it was still quite tight. I'm thankful to be able to put a roof over my head, pay utilities, and get essentials (food, cat food, etc.) What fell behind was payments on the credit cards. I've tanked to a 491 and frankly don't know what to in lieu of the situation. Staying put really isn't in the cards, moving will net significantly more income and help offset the negative I've put myself in. Cost of living is significantly higher here as well. Prior to moving back here (only a year ago), I was all caught up on everything with a score hovering 700. Yes, the credit situation is it's own problem and the drop has happened incredibly fast. That I can recover from once settled and in a more sustainable environment.

Move is to Ohio from Georgia, for what it's worth. My income varies but has ranged $80k-100k the last few years, with this year showing significantly less at this job.

Ultimately, I would just like some advice/guidance on the immediate now of the situation to get myself and my family out of survival mode. I have already been approved for a new place there and the job was practically a given. I am fortunate enough to work basically immediately and stay with a friend in the area (I would be solo, girlfriend would stay here until the move). I'm looking what I could do to even scrounge up the small of the two amounts just to cover the initial move in and moving truck costs. Thanks in advance for any help!

I only lived there a year, but I really did enjoy my time living in Columbus (more specifically Dublin). People who live there felt it was nothing special, but everything was so easy going in my opinion. People were incredibly nice and I felt at ease. It felt enough like a small big city. I’m relatively a home body, but I never felt like I had a hard time doing anything.

I grew up in the Atlanta area and am back for some personal reasons. The chaos here, the people, the weather, everything makes me miss Columbus. Traffic is abysmal. My stress levels are so elevated since being back here I can’t stand it. 13 years in the automotive world doesn’t help that, but I did fine mentally in Ohio. I unfortunately had to make an adult decision but part of me regrets it.

Anyway, this is mostly just a rant and a shoutout to anyone who reads. Columbus is such a great place and this sub shows a lot of love for it and I love to see it. If I had the opportunity I’d be back in a heartbeat. Much love to you all
