So I was playing with sweet Chicken Soup and she got a bit carried away and tried to include my senior girl Crumb - Crumb was NOT having it and decided that this was when she was going to leave this earth and fully accepted her fate lol. Thankfully after a few seconds she realized it isn't actually her time yet and went back to her usual grooming - but I supose this is payback for all that bouncy play that Crumb tried to inflict on Raisin, Popcorn, Tofu, and Toast back in her youth! Also bonus Feta getting bullied by babies, poor girl is so sweet she lets them get away with anything 😅

Here is one of my favorite Raisin training clips, showing off just how much she loved her weaves! During her long life with Toast (Raisin knew her for nearly 3 years!), Raisin never once challenged her on anything...except for when weaves were involved, because apparently weaves were her one obsession and she wouldn't let any rat get in the way (not to worry, Toast was totally fine and went on to learn weaving as well!)

More advanced scentwork with Chickpea and Feta! Chickpea still tried to steal a carrot once, but otherwise she is getting much better at actually fetching it lol. And Feta is getting much quicker at picking the correct carrot - great job girls!

Welp I gave it a shot, but lets just say that group photos are not so easy with this many rats lol. Especially since Chickpea is not a huge fan of the babies yet (also she's feuding with Coffee - I wish I was kidding ), so she was really giving me the stink eye for making her play nice here. Maybe we will attempt this again later on when everyone is fully bonded (Chickpea is the only holdout lol, but even she is just mildly spicy towards the newbies, so nothing too bad) - for now I think we got as good of a photo as I can expect, and no one pooped in the photo area so I think that's a win!

So I've come to the conclusion that Rubio's accidentally gave me a RATtriever, not just a regular rat - Shrimp here is OBSESSED with balls, and has made it her lives mission to collect all of them (and given that I have about 200 wiffle balls, she has a long way to go lol)! Thankfully I have been slowly convincing her that giving me the balls is actually preferable, and she now bounces towards me with them and away from her stashing spot. Still a bit of work left to do to sure up her fetch, but she is getting very close to having it fully down! (Bonus slow-mo at the end because she really has HUGE hops!)

Feta and Shrimp met today and I got the best photo from their first meeting - despite how it looks both girls are very mild-mannered rats and clicked immediately (not I just have to get my less nice werewolf girl Chickpea on board...Feta please have some words with your sister on proper baby meeting behavior!)

Playful Snickerdoodle! This girl is so much fun, she's really got the hops and loves to handwrestle! Plus her drifting is unmatched lol

Sweet little Pinto Bean 🥺 I'm so obsessed with this girl, she is such a perfect little rat! Its been a while since I had a rat so obsessed with me since day 1, this girl loves anything you do with her and is very much a velcro rat who wants to be with you 24/7. And she loves to sleep cuddled up on my arm, its so sweet ❤️

Please welcome Cheese to the group! Like Snickerdoodle, Cheese is a manx rat, meaning she lacks a tail. But also just like Snickerdoodle, that doesn't slow her down in the slightest and she is incredibly active and agile! Honestly when I first got this girl I was sorta expecting her to be pretty chill - and don't get me wrong, she very much is calm compared to the rest of the crazies in this group (I say that lovingly - I LOVE the crazy rats!) But Cheese is no couch potato and she absolutely shares the drive to explore just like her sisters do!

In fact Cheese was the very first rat to make it all the way around the 4 story critter nation free-range cage, and then to make it out into the free-range area and explore every inch! Cheese is also very socially driven and absolutely loves to be with you - she will very much run around and explore, but every few minutes she comes back to check in with me and its so sweet seeing her check in, get a few pets, then popcorn off to explore! Cheese is also very food motivated and an extremely quick learner, making training a breeze! I love this girl so much and can see her becoming my snuggle buddy in the future - welcome to the mischief Cheese!

This is what I mean when I say Fruit Loops is confident and unbothered lol - this was taken last night just 2 minutes after I introduced the pea fishing sink, and Fruit Loops plonked herself down in the water and started munched peas without missing a beat! All the girls surprised me with how fast they took to the sink actually, most of the time my younger girls are more nervous about new things but these girls are just all in all the time!

Please welcome Fruit Loops to the group! Like her sister Cheerio, Fruit Loops is a odd-eyed torti. Unlike her sister she is a standard sized girl, and also sports a large lightning blaze across her face.

Admittedly I originally had a different name in mind for her - but after meeting this girl and seeing that she is the MOST confident and agile rat I've ever seen (no I'm not kidding, she is really that amazing and I'm obsessed with her!), I just knew she needed a sugary name to match her insane energy and bombastic personality! This girl is really everything I love in a rat - she is crazy, but in a way that can be easily channeled into fun tricks and play. She is insanely agile and quick, traits that make doing things like agility incredibly fun! She is super loving and obsessed with people, which means she is so much fun to be around no matter what you are doing. And she is ultra confident, startling at nigh nothing - which is such an amazing trait in a rat, and really my favorite thing about this entire group (all the girls in this group are crazy confident and people obsessed!)

I really adore this girl in every way, she makes just walking by the cage into the best experience because she comes sprinting out to meet you without fail every time you come by! If you hold out your hand she happily hops on for a chance to groom and be with you, and she is INCREDIBLY playful and absolutely loves to hand wrestle and popcorn around. I just love this girl so much, and I can't wait to get to know her better - welcome to the mischief Fruit Loops!

Everyone is getting very good at spin and paw, a few girls are really figuring out fetch (Shrimp very much WANTS that ball lol...fetch hasn't quite clicked yet :P), and everyone is really figuring out this whole training game thing! All these girls are a bast to train, they are so sweet and confident and very much the sort of rats I love training with ❤️

Please welcome Creme Brulee to the group! I really struggled with what to name this girl at first - she is super sweet, but also CRAZY energetic, super determined when she sets her mind on something, and very food driven. And with those traits in mind, I just knew a desert name would fit her - and as a big lover of crème brûlée myself, it seemed like a good fit!

Creme Brulee is a very social girl who has boundless energy and a very inquisitive nature - any task that your doing clearly should involve her, and that makes her not only a super fun rat to be around, but also makes training with her super fun! I am so impressed with this girl and her ability to figure things out, and I know she will just improve that ability with time - welcome to the mischief Creme Brulee!

This girl is one of the last ones I need to name, and I'm really struggling! I want her name to be cereal based, since her sister (the odd-eyed dwarf girl) is called Cheerio. But it also needs to be a sugary cereal, since this girl is CRAZY hyper and practically teleports when she's running around! I think she might actually be the fastest and most agile rat I've ever seen, its crazy! (Also she really wanted to stash this cheerio lol - and now I realize I just had her eat her sisters namesake, how could I?! :P)

Please welcome miss Snickerdoodle to the group! Snickerdoodle is a manx rat, meaning she lacks a tail, but don't let that fool you - she is INSANELY agile and can make crazy accurate jumps like no-ones business! Like Pinto Bean, Snickerdoodle is partially named for one of the animals at the shelter I work at (in this case a sweet chocolate colored dog). Snickerdoodle the dog is outgoing, confident, energetic, loves people and other animals, and tries his hardest to behave and do what's asked - and Snickerdoodle the rat seems to be following in his footsteps!

This sweet girl is such a delight to have around - she has oodles of confidence and wants to be where the action is, and anytime anyone goes near the cage she pops up and immediately starts trying to follow you around and be involved. She is also VERY trainable - she's learned the fastest out of her group so far, quickly mastering paw, spin, and jump to hand, and is getting ready to move on to more advanced tricks! I absolutely love this girl so much and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us - welcome to the mischief Snickerdoodle!

Everyone please welcome miss Shrimp! Shrimp is a Siamese werewolf like Feta, only unlike Feta she has standard ears, not dumbo ones (little trick to tell them apart easily once she grows lol). Shrimps personality reminds me so much of Feta that its uncanny - she is a super sweet and mild-mannered girl who is also extremely curious and LOVES food! She also shares an interesting trait with Feta that I've only ever seen in one other rat, and that is that when she follows a treat around, she will stare at the ground! Its super funny and both Feta and the other rat (who was Coconut) grew out of that with experience, but it does make me wonder why they started that way lol.

Shrimp does have one very distinct characteristic that Feta doesn't have though, and that is that she is quite pushy with her ratty buddies! Feat would rather roll over than squabble, but Shrimp on the other hand is the one making other rats roll over lol - its going to be so interesting seeing them meet, I think both girls will get along amazingly well! Welcome to the mischief Shrimp, I can't wait to get to know you more!

Sweet little Chicken Soup 🥺 She loves to groom fingers and is so gentle about it, I adore this sweet girl! Also Cheerio trying to copy her and miss un-named trying to escape, you can really see their distinct personalities ❤️

Everyone please give a big welcome to Cheerio! Cheerio is a torti odd-eyed dwarf, which means she has different colored eyes and her fur will molt different colored patches as she ages (you can already see this starting with her head, where the fur is lightening). Now this girl was one of the original rats I wanted, and let me tell you, she does not disappoint! Cheerio is SO confident and outgoing, its truly amazing to see such a tiny rat show absolutely no fear of anything!

Cheerio absolutely loves people and the second I put my hand near the cage she is trying to crawl on it - once she gets up there she likes to gently nibble on your nails, giving the world cutest manicure! I am so in love with this smol bean and I can't wait to get to know her better - welcome to the mischief Cheerio!
