Who cares but I just finished LD.

I always read non-fiction to learn from but this is the first fiction book I read and it’s turned me. Amazing.

I still like non fiction but sometimes it’s just too difficult to focus, while fiction just flows.

I already had 11/22/63 by Stephen King on deck to try but I might just mosey on over and read Streets of Laredo instead.

Uva uvam vivendo varia fit.

Researcher not responding/worth it to contact support?

Hello all.

I received a rejection from a researcher saying the study was completed too fast. The time said it would take 5 minutes. I might read fast and I’ve been doing mturk and now prolific for over a decade so possibly the same questions come up and I can get through quick, but according to prolific you can only reject if it is “3 standard deviations below the mean”. I don’t think I completed the survey in 1 minute. I have over 5k approvals on Prolific and don’t have any rejections.

I’m just wondering if support would do anything as I’ve messaged the researcher and provided the link talking about when they can reject, but they haven’t replied.

Thank you.

Fundraising?

Is there such a thing as fundraising in dance?

It looks like we’ve signed up for another year of dance and I’m wondering if anyone has fundraised?

Any ideas to do it?

I suggested to the moms that maybe we can place bets on who places in the overalls but I don’t know if that works.

Selling cookies?

Thank you.

USAF question

Hello all. Question — our studio owner has decided to register and join USAF and have some kind of “all star” team. Could anyone explain what this is? What is the difference with this and the “regular” competitions we’ve been doing.

I’ve told the owner our priorities—that we need to focus on school work especially in the year that high schools look at grades but it seems this is an after thought. The owner is asking to commit to two years to this “all star” thing when we don’t know how school will go.

FSA problem and what to do

Hello all. I may have gotten myself into a situation.

We had medical debt from 2025 (several surgeries from mid year and also after the FSA card was active in September.)

The debt was sent to a collections agency. I asked them if I can pay with the FSA — they say sure no problem and I paid around $2k with it not realizing it can only be used for 2026 medical procedures (or starting September 2025)

Two days later I get an email from HR saying they need proof it was for 2026 and where it went to.

The collections agency only provided a receipt saying the payment went to them for “financial” services.

I called several times and they say the settlement has to go through and they can send the itemized bills after but they aren’t sure when that happens. I’ve called 3 times.

I have no idea if that bill would actually say that it was payments made for services done after September 2025 and the agency is saying they don’t know when they’ll be able to get that information.

So now I’m stuck because I can’t use the card since I don’t know if the payment will be approved on the HR end.

If it’s declined, that means I have to replenish the funds myself just for it to be all lost if it’s the end of the year?

HR said I can not cancel that transaction and the collections agency was paid.

Just looking for any advice on if there’s anything I could do.

Insoles with metpad issue

Question about insoles with met pads built in.

I bought the Powerstep pinnacle plus with metpad — I take the original insoles out and place them powersteps in but they are thicker than the originals and then my foot slips out of the shoes since they don’t sit as deep with them in. How do you guys deal with that issue?

Thank you.

“Modern management of the older adult” through ICE or “CEEAA” certification?

Has anyone taken the modern management of the older adult course by institute of clinical excellence?

Wondering if it’s worth the money to take the online course for $695.

Or is the CEEAA certification worth the $1,650 to become a “certified exercise expert for aging adults” through the APTA lol if anyone even knows what that is.

Trying to see what I can upsell for the clinic to pay for lol.

Thank you!

Help with sizing

I believe my size is 7 1/8 and what I currently wear. I bought a new 7 1/8 fitted last week — it looks weird and large. I bought another 7 1/8 fitted and it looks nice on me but was so tight I got a headache and felt nauseous after 5 minutes.

Should I attempt to just stream and wear it some by stretching it and curving the brim some? The headache and nausea was a bit intense lol.

Or order more 7 1/8 and keep trying.

Thank you for any advice!

HH rate per visit..

Is $85 per visit a good rate for home health?

I’ve been doing part B as a side gig for a while — getting $68 per 3 units and $88 for 4 units. Don’t have experience with home health but wanted to try it out.

Also told me $100 for a SOC but I don’t think that is worth all the paperwork, right?

Thank you for any information.

Imagine Dance Challenge

Went this weekend and really loved how the speaker spoke to the dancers.

She asked them all their favorite ice creams. Everyone had a different opinion and she made a point of saying that you like vanilla one day, chocolate the next, etc. and told them that this is exactly the same thing with these judges. They might like some dance one day and like a completely different one another and their opinion should not matter to you. Said she used to be a dancer and has no memory at all of what place she got in any competition. The only opinion that matters is your own and your family’s and not these judges. Opinions aren’t facts.

Another time, told them to repeat positive affirmations to themselves and pose in their most confident move. Whenever you feel nervous, assume that pose and feel strong about yourselves.

Haven’t been to only about half dozen competitions now but she’s the first I’ve heard say something encouraging like that. 👏

Competitive dance culture

Hello again all. I’m again trying to learn from you all and your world. Father here.

Is it common/accepted to change studios?

One dancer decided to try out for another studio, and it was done in secret as though this was a crime. When they left, they were labeled as traitorous.

Also, totally unrelated but how does one look into potentially changing studios? How do you know if the new studio would be a better fit? Do you just search and get in touch with them, preferably in secret?

Further, do all teachers tend to be stern and demanding and yellers or are there studios that praise?

Also, do many dance moms talk bad about each other and is drama a feature and not a bug? Maybe this is in all sports and all genders; I apologize if my writing is rude or offensive and I hope it’s okay that I’m asking.

Thank you!

Cas2 question

Would a fujifilm x-t30 with a 35mm prime fit it in the cas2? I just got done figuring things out for a kindle, kids meds, wallet, keys, charger and bought a 2.5L Toshi rework which is cool but then remembered I have the Fuji. Looking for something that could fit all those/possibly without the kindle.

Thank you!

I have the 35mm f2 along with the kit lens that came with the x-t30 I bought back in 2019 but basically never used. I’m trying to try getting into carrying it with me when going out but just feel like a poser and self conscious of it. But anyway, when I search for “tips on how to use a 35mm” on YouTube am I actually getting results for the 23mm lenses and not the 35mm ones we have, which would be 50mm equivalent? I’m just confused because none of the videos say if they’re talking about full frame or aspc.

And I know you guys don’t even know what videos I’m actually looking at, but worth a shot.

Thank you!
