Had very trippy dream the other day. I dreamed my alarm was going off in the morning and woke me up, like it always does. So I reached for my phone and was trying to turn off the alarm, the way I always do. But the alarm kept beeping and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it to stop and thought something was wrong with my phone. Then I woke up and realized my actual alarm was going off in real life and that's why I couldn't get it to stop in the dream haha. I think that was the first dream I've ever had where I thought I was awake.

I have 11 cousins, but am not close with any of them. I don't have siblings, so I feel like I should have more of a relationship with my cousins, but I don't really want to. They're not bad people, but if we weren't related, I wouldn't choose to interact with them. None of them are "my kind of person." We don't seem to have anything in common and most of them live in a different state, and / or are at least a decade younger than me. I used to see the the 3 that are around my age more often when we were kids, but we never became friends since they were all boys and I was a girl. Now when I see any of my cousins at rare family gatherings, I'll try to make small talk, asking about school or work, but I don't actually care, and most never reciprocate by asking about me. My mom has tried to encourage me to develop more of a relationship with them since they'll be my only family once our parent's generation passes away, but we just don't really have anything to talk about and I don't know how to close the gap, especially when they don't seem interested either.

So I just found out that apparently architectural drawings are protected by copyright laws in the US? Why? If we pay an architect to do the drawings for our house, shouldn't the plans be ours to do whatever we want with? For context -

• We had to hire an architect to do the drawings for our house rebuild.
• I have a background in design and do drafting for a living, so I know how to read and draw plans.
• The architect used the original hand-drawn plans as a starting point, so the new house isn't even his design.
• This architect was horrible to work with and would not make basic changes we repeatedly asked for. And I'm not talking about anything structural - I'm talking about, centering the light fixture, moving outlets, reversing the door swing, etc. They just wouldn't do what we asked and we don't want to deal with them anymore.
• The final drawings we got the permits on are full of mistakes and missing essential things, like outlets in the bathrooms. And again, I do drafting, so I can tell when things are screwed up. The final drawings from this architect are comically bad. I have a list 30+ items long of all the mistakes.
• The architect sent us the editable CAD files when we requested them, but later said I'm not able to make any changes to them because of copyright.

So since I have the drafting skills and we couldn't get the architect to make the changes we wanted for our house, and we paid for the drawings, and he sent us the CAD files, shouldn't I just be able to make the changes we want myself? (And it wouldn't be anything structural.) But apparently I can't because they're protected by copyright? That makes no sense to me...

Just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge Scuttle. He's portrayed as stupid and mainly used for comical relief, but he really saves the day. Not only did he warn Ariel about Vanessa being Ursula in disguise. But then he rallied all the animals to attack Vanessa and stall the wedding. And then in the sequel, he brings Eric and King Triton to Morgana's lair once Ariel finds it. He really is a hero and comes through when it matters.

During Covid, I was working alone in my company's office and accidentally locked myself out. My phone, car keys, and wallet were all inside and I couldn't access them. I had to walk to a gas station and beg them to let me use their phone. Since I didn't know any co-worker's number by heart, I called 411 to get the number of a locksmith. Then I realized there happened to be a locksmith across the street, so I went over there and then had to beg him to let me into the office. He hesitated because I could have been a random girl trying to break into a business, but I guess I looked innocent and desperate enough that he took pity on me. He made me show him my id once we got into the office though. I know I wasn't really in any danger, but it's super stressful to be completely without any method of communication, transportation, or money.

Edit: Bonus points if you weren't drunk or high.

In this screenshot, you can see the exterior walls are drawn 4 different ways, with different thicknesses and layers. Can someone please clarify for me why that is? Why is each exterior wall segment different? I'm supposed to create a plan drawing using this file as an example, but don't know how to draw the exterior walls because they're all different in this sample with no explanation.
