If you are like me and don't buy the small boxed Matchbox castings referred to as "Power Grabs" you may be in for a big surprise 😮 😳 !
As a 90% carded collector of die cast, I very seldom, buy the Matchbox power grabs in the small cardboard boxes. Reasoning for this being that you can't see the castings through the cardboard, and that was a disappointment. Also, because I often found the castings in the power grabs to be quite bland. However, that seems to have changed.
On my last hunting trip, I ran across some power grabs that I hadn't seen before and it peaked my curiosity so I bought a few and I have to say I am completely amazed at the quality and the detail of the castings that came out of those boxes. It has changed my opinion of them forever.
I am posting some pictures of some of the castings that I was able to get a hold of and would like to know what your opinion is.
These things just look fantastic and you can't find these sold as carded castings or in the five car multi packs.
Something else that I noticed on these is that many of them have moving parts like the auto wrecker lowers the boom so that it can actually haul cars and the '74 Ford F-100 has a bed with dumping action so it tilts back and it's just really cool.
I will certainly be paying more attention to the power grabs when I go out on my hunting trips from now on out I can say that much very impressed.
