Introduced two new standouts to my Johnny Lightning collection.

They were well received and getting along with all the other JL's just fine. The "Day of the Dead" Volkswagen bus is the real show stopper though. It's pretty hefty when in hand too. I'm digging' it!

Anybody else get this VW bus on the pre-order sale a couple months back? Mine was on the slow boat but finally arrived yesterday. I placed the order with Auto World on June 16, 2026.

Love me some Ed Roth and the Rat Fink graphics on my Johny Lightning collection.

It's not a very big collection yet but I sure do cherish for all the detail and graphics. Don't quote me but I believe that Ed Roth is the artist for these very recognizable graphics.

What I have to date is what's in this picture. I'm always looking for more or new Rat Fink die cast. I really enjoy them. I have a mountain of traders if you have any Rat Fink die cast to sell or trade. I even have a few RF traders.

Anyone else impressed with or collecting RF examples or am I the only one?

First time buyer/owner of this brand die cast but I may be on to something.

First time I've ever bought a Tarmac brand die cast. I like what I see in this photo andcasting. It looks almost like an art piece. It's all white with shading lines accentuating the curves. I thought it was silver when I ordered it. The only drawback I see in all of this is that I would have to place orders to obtain these because I have never seen this brand in all my travels and hunts. Can this Tarmac brand be purchased off of a shelf anywhere in the states?

I'm very impressed with this casting. Anyone else collect this brand?

Surprised again, I found these four of a five car set that I had no idea Matchbox had recently released.

Now I just need to track down the one missing casting to complete this eclectic set. Wish me luck!

So it seems that Matchbox's rise to greatness is not just limited to their main lines and premiums. This Matchbox line has also exceeded all expectations!

I never really paid much attention to Matchbox power grabs, but this year for some reason, my attention has been drawn to them in a big way. I've actually started collecting these, but the reason for that is largely because of finding examples like the one I found today this is an absolutely amazing looking casting and I hope they keep up the good work.

Focus your interests early on or suffer the fate I have been condemned to.

This is approximately four to five years in now.

Trying to create unique and different new means of displaying my Diecast collections.

TLDR: On a scale from 1-10, what would you rate this display method used for a small diecast collection?

So here is my latest idea. The shadowbox frame obtained from the Goodwill store. White Styrofoam poster board to fit four layers deep into the shadowbox frame was obtained from the Dollar store.

I traced the cars and cut out the silhouettes in the styrofoam that enabled me to effectively mount my funny cars. I like it but what do you think? It was only large enough to fit a small fraction of my funny car collection but I can always go bigger in the future and repurpose the frame using new styrofoam poster board.

This year I have seen Matchbox releasing industry leading examples of what collectors really desire in the way of die cast model cars, and here once again is another shining example of their spectacular work!

The guys at Matchbox just don't ever seem to let up in their efforts to be Mattel's #1 die cast manufacturer and there are some that would argue that in many ways they already are.

The "Sherp" I found today in a power grab box contained a vehicle I had not even heard of prior to today and is just one more feather in the cap of Matchbox for bringing yet another unique die cast to the collectors world. Not only is the Sherp unique but it also looks absolutely fantastic in the rendition that Matchbox has provided. All in all, for $1.35 at Fred Meyer, it left me happy as a lark at having found this unexpected treasure.

I thought I had a real Super Treasure Hunt!

But alas, it was just a beautiful paint job on a whimsical casting. I am still very happy with this little beauty nonetheless. Isn't it just so vibrant and pretty?

A very attractive example of an '83 Chevy Silverado with GoodYear livery by Auto World.

Here is an exceptionally beautiful casting of an iconic pick up truck produced by an ever growing in popularity die cast car manufacturer, Auto World. The Good Year livery looks fantastic on the side doors. I anticipate a very warm welcome for this casting by all die cast collectors but especially by square body fans in particular.

I have been trying unsuccessfully for two weeks to purchase tiles on the cone treasury world map.

For some reason I just can not figure out how to do it. I’m on a tablet so maybe that’s the issue but I wish I knew for sure.

I’m desperate to purchase some of the map so if anyone can explain to me how I can accomplish that, I would be deeply indebted.

Thank you in advance for any tips, pointers or instructions.

OMG what a freakin emotional rollercoaster at Target tonight!

Picture 01: initial feelings of elation, surprise and genuine giddy excitement at having found the Matchbox '74 Ford F-100 Ranger in all its exquisite glory and wonder.

Picture 02 and 03: suddenly the mental radar detection siren begins whirring lightly slowly building to an ear splitting crescendo as I come to the nightmarish realization that the blister has devastating damage to the front end of it without any redemptive plans or ideas blooming into fruition.

Picture 04, 05 and 06: frantically searching the dark crevices of my mind for a solution to this obvious dilemma I have an idea spring forth with such ferocity that it causes me to stumble right there in the middle of the toy aisle of Target making me drop said Ford truck casting by Matchbox. As I recovered the truck which had loosed itself free of the confinements of the blister and landed on the floor I was suddenly awash with wonder and amazement at the sheer beauty and silky rough touch of the truck and i could no longer contain my excitement overflowing from every nerve in my body!

So yeah, it was quite a night at Target with my Matchbox Ford pick up truck.

Here are my latest two die-cast display creations that I converted from some cheap Goodwill store finds. Would you be willing to display parts of your collection in these?

I can’t help myself from buying these old display cases from the Goodwill when I see them. They’re so inexpensive and versatile. Most appear to be old display cases for watches, jewelry or some other collectible but they don’t come suited for displaying die cast cars. That is until I completely gut them, cut new shelves for them custom fit for 1:64 scale die cast cars. Maybe add a bit of paint or stain to match and voila! Now I have two custom built display cases for my loose die-Cast car collection.

What are your thoughts?

u/Rbmui13 — 2 months ago

Well I’ll be damned if somebody didn’t lock the door on me. Looks like I’m stuck here in the basement but I’m in good company.

Never dreamt I’d make it this far but I guess that’s what happens when Reddit becomes part of my daily habits. Next stop? See you all in the grass!

If ever there was a wheel swap necessary, this would be the one. Agreed?

I feel like the orange wheels were more than just a little improvement but a necessary huge improvement! He about you?

u/Rbmui13 — 2 months ago

A very loose, very Matchbox, very Dodge Challenger for sale that was very probably cast before most of you were a twinkle in daddy's eye for sale (very open to trades too) here.

Not gonna lie, cash will be king for anyone wishing to purchase this lil guy but I have a disease that compels me to hear and seriously consider any and all trade offers. So there you go, hope to hear from you soon.

This message is brought to you from a collector residing in the Pacific Northwest state of Washington within the Puget Sound metropolis.

The least I will part with this for is $100 but I've seen it sell for considerably more so just know that I will take the highest offer if there are multiple parties expressing interest.

Yesterday I posted something rattling on about how the Matchbox gods had been smiling upon me and after finding this I am now absolutely convinced they may even be grinning at me!

I had this little guy in one of my old Army wooden ammo box's with a couple hundred others. This box of die cast consisted mostly of loose castings I had bought at the Goodwill one sandwich baggie at a time over the last year or so.
I began sorting through these cars methodically but I would occasionally look up any castings I thought looked cool and check the history and maybe even the value on them. I nearly fell over when I checked this little guy out.

It will be selling or trading this beauty so as to enhance other areas of my collection very soon! Thank you Matchbox dieties for your very gracious gift!
