Recommendations for lake/river with a beach to bring a baby

Hi there,

My baby is 4 months and while I know she’s young, I really enjoy bringing her places and taking her outside. She likes it too.

Does anyone have recommendations for lake/river beaches suitable for a baby? We went to Fews Ford at the Eno and it was really nice but there wasn’t a lot of sand/grass with shade near the river so I had to hold her the whole time/keep her in her carrier. I should have probably brought a tent or something because otherwise it was really nice. I’m interested in places with beaches/grassy areas that have some shaded areas.

I’m nervous about Jordan Lake. I’ve swam in it dozens of times but I do know there is sometimes bacteria/dead bodies as well. Something about lakes/standing water just skeeves me out the more I think about it especially as someone from a place with ample beach access/crystal clear lakes.

What about West Point on the Eno park? I went there once 9 years ago for Eno fest. Is that a good place for babies? I’m not trying to swim with her in the water, maybe just put her feet in and spend the rest of the time relaxing on the shore.

Any recommendations would be great. I’m mostly interested in river access points especially around the Haw as that’s closer to me.

Any tips for getting through selling a house? (showings, night shift, sleep, cats etc)

Our house went on the market on Monday. We had a showing yesterday and have one today. I really don’t want to decline any showings as we’re very motivated to sell. We have a 3 month old baby and are moving back home to be closer to family.

We also have 5 cats. For our first showing we got all the cats and litterboxes out of the house and cleaned like crazy. We also had the home professionally cleaned last week. All of our personal items are out and the place has been completely decluttered.

I’m an ED RN that works night shift. So, that means that I can be here when there are showings to clean the house and get the cats out. But it also means there will be showings when I’m supposed to be sleeping. For instance there is a showing this afternoon when I’m supposed to be napping before work. Instead I’ll be picking up the house, getting the cats and baby out. Fortunately I didn’t work last night but there will be some days where I have worked the night before and go back into work the night of the showing, meaning I’ll likely only get a small amount of rest and spend a good chunk of the day picking up again, moving the cats out etc. I’m legit concerned about the lack of sleep I’m about to face.

My partner works remotely from home but they don’t have much flexibility and are in constant meetings, so they can only help me here and there. I know the market in the Southeast sucks for sellers right now so I’m expecting to be doing this for months on end. How will I survive? Does anyone have any tips? I’m trying to keep the house as clean as possible on a day to day basis but it’s challenging with a 3 month old and so many cats. It’s not an option to move into a short term rental (I just don’t feel we can afford it plus we have so many cats) and we don’t have family in the area that can host us.

I’m super confused here. I’ve had 3 people tell me I look smaller now than I did before I got pregnant. I’m almost 13 weeks post-partum. I don’t know if I think I necessarily look smaller than I was pre-pregnancy, but some of my clothes are fitting me more loosely than they did pre-pregnancy. However, I’m still 5-10 lbs heavier than I was pre-pregnancy. I’m 5’4” and before pregnancy was 140-145 lbs. I have been firmly at 150 lbs for weeks.

So how is it possible that I look smaller to people and my clothes are loose when I’m actually heavier than I was? Is the weight distributed differently or something?
