Cookie Philosophy @ Telok Blangah

Interesting and new concept of made to order cookies.

Ordered on Foodpanda,Cookies arrived warm. Taste was alright.

$21.52 for a box of 4. Looks like they use frozen batter and put it in airfryer when ordered.

Price is similar to Nasty Cookie and other gourmet options...but taste wise not there yet.

Korean Fried Chicken @ Daily Beer (Telok Ayer)

Fried chicken quest continues and today's stop was at Daily Beer. They have two outlets - Telok Ayer and Chijmes.

I had gone there after work to try Oven and Fried chicken but then ran into this place and decided to take detour.

Unfortunately they serve only whole chicken (600g) which is good for 2-3pax. Initially I thought of having half and tabao the remaining.

Then saw this drumstick and beer combo...which I could handle by myself.

Fried fresh, skin was crunchy, not oily and meat was tender (could have been tad better).

I went for Korean Ginseng beer. Nothing extraordinary...but tasted good.as was served in chilled mug.

They do have lunch offerings for 2pc chicken meal or rice/chicken plate.

Recommended to make a reservation before going. (I went at 5pm on Monday and the place was half full).

Ambience was peppy and cheerful. They have a disco ball tied to the ceiling and belting out 80s, 90s hits (like Nothing can stop us by starship).

Total damage $35. Could be tad cheaper for a group (per pax).

Overall good experience, good food, good beer, cheerful staff, convenient location. I left the place satisfied after a hard day at work.

Fried chicken @ Alexandra Village hawker centre

On a bit of quest to find good fried chicken.

Having tried KFC (Star vista, quite oily), Oppa fried chicken (Timbre+ one north, less oily, juicy chicken and great flavours), Waker chicken (Holland Drive - now closed, one of best ones),

I went to BHC (star vista) yesterday...and turned back after seeing a long queue and 30min+ wait times.

Today, found this place in Alexandra Village hawker centre. Great flavor, comes with an option of base (rice, fries or tater tots) and variety of dips. Would have been perfect if tad less oilier.

Next maybe I will try baked one at 'Oven and Fried chicken'.

Where's your go to place for finger licking fried bird??

Was Korean Fried Chicken Introduced by Black GIs?

I’ve heard this said authoritatively by various chefs (Alton Brown among others) but is there actual historical evidence of this origin?

A classic pint at a classic spot. Cheers from Molly Malone’s! 🍻 What's your go-to spot?

Hot take, but the Guinness here just hits differently.

A lot of other places serve it watered down or improperly poured, but Molly’s actually tastes rich, creamy, and strong...the way it should be.

"Priced at $21 per pint. Worth the tax for an actual proper Guinness, or are there cheaper spots with a pour this good?"
