I know it has been months that Komala Vilas has been closed. Anyone knows any insider gossip or news regarding it?
Future of Komala Vilas in doubt as iconic restaurant remains shut after 2 months | The Straits Times
Note: Seems that the Komala's Restaurant Chains still seem to be open. Just not the iconic Komala Vilas that PM of India Narendra Modi visited. Not sure the ownership is the same.
helloo can someone recommend some good KBBQ where the meat melt in your mouth kind and you will go back to? and also looking for good Jeju Black Pork.
edited: planning to celebrate birthday there, will be good if there’s nice ambience as well
Samurai and seaweed shaker fries is back 😋
Why is the food in Seomyeon, Busan, always so good? I tried lamb for the first time, and it was so tender and delicious, just like beef! 😍 It’s a little pricey, but I definitely recommend trying it at least once. ✨
The restaurant is called “Jinggis” (징기스)

i saw a similar post about singaporeans finding fairprice house brand overseas, look what i found in Seoul’s lotte mart.
i didn’t manage to see the coveted fried chicken cashew nuts but the price certainly is definitely fair enough.
Where to get good Ras Malai in Singapore? I’ve only had it at Komalas Villas, and I’ve been missing it so badly ever since KV closed.
Bonus if anyone knows where to get Rawa Thosai.
Help a Chinese girlie who loves KV here.
Eggplant, broccoli, sesame oil chicken - all solid portions - at a very affordable price. The angle here unfortunately doesn't do justice to the portion of the chicken; it was actually a decent size with not a lot of bone.
The coffeeshop itself is a small one with just a drinks store, bak chor mee, roast meats, and this cai png. I actually was hoping to try the BCM but it wasn't open unfortunately, so I went with this on a whim, and was shocked at the price. I think the last time I forked out $3 for a cai png was more than a decade ago.
The food itself is okay. It's not amazing, but I've definitely had far worse - and at this price I'm not complaining.
Stall itself doesn't have a name but the coffeeshop is "BGAIN 85 EATING HOUSE"
There is no comparable hawker at the same price point or quality:
Barramundi on Romesco Sauce - $15.90 - large fresh slice of fish, crispy skin (eat quickly), healing pile of salad and more cous cous than I knew what to do with
Special - Tenderloin Steak Frites - $20.90 - tender, perfectly rare with a nice char, tasty chimmi churri sauce, well seasoned pile of slightly spicy fries. They'll even let you have it blue if you ask, which is rare.
Skillet Cookie - $7.90 - maybe the best dessert I've had at this price in recent years. Soft chewy cookies with criap crust, fudgy melt chocolate, generous scoop of store tub vanilla ice cream.
NGL, the beers are OK and the EDM trance soundtrack the kopitiam is playing kinda slaps. On a nice breezy night like tonight, life in Singapore is is pretty sweet with very decent food.
Is this the best western hawker? Maybe. At this price point - haven't seen anything come close. Quality is better than some of the more famous steak places, with much bigger servings and better execution.
Anyone bought durian from hengbros before? Seller like very Yaya say his durian the best and poor people cannot afford haha. Dk how good is it
would love to get some recommendations :)
Anyone else tried this? First time seeing it in the mall, got one pack to try and just demolished it. Hands down one of the best chips I've had.
PS: our shop is not open to the public so this is not advertising 🤣
would love to get some suggestions on which korean restaurants are good for friday night dinners :)
