How long did you all study for NY MPJE
I was thinking 2-3 weeks
I was thinking 2-3 weeks
I passed the NAPLEX and I took the weekend to celebrate! I’m so happy I’m down one board exam as my residency ramps up this week. One down, one more to go (MPJE).
Things you need to know:
Drug interactions and lab values were a hot topic on my exam. Do not skip these chapters. Monitoring for anemia and high or low potassium (which drugs cause it)is very important. There were a few tricks regarding ID so definitely know your gram stains and know chad2vasc and how to do it. Asthma and copd techniques are a must know and selecting which inhaler based on severity is a know.
I cannot stress the amount of biostats and math on this exam. Definitely need to know your tpns, mmol, meqs, drip rates, and all the biostats maths. The amount of ethics and leadership on the exam were insane. Like completely unnecessary the amount I got, maybe 30 questions or so. Most of the select all that apply came from this section. If you got the pharmpreppro packets they’ll help you here, uworld I felt alone wasn’t enough for these questions. I genuinely think I got topics from every topic imaginable, I don’t think I had more than any other topics (like it was balanced amount all questions) other than for diabetes and cardiology. It was heavier on those topics but I would say I got a few questions from infectious disease and chemo. I genuinely think chemo man is enough to answer 70% of the oncology questions you get. Vaccines were a big component do not skip that chapter!
I prepared by studying on and off for 6 months for my residency that I start. I wasn’t a top of the mill student but did have a 3.5 gpa. I scored 66 on my first pharmpreppro exam a month ago and a 77 on my second pharmpreppro exam 8 days prior to my exam. I believe the true way to do well on this exam is to keep rereading your book and do a lot of practice questions.
I did every Uworld practice question as my school paid for access for it for the entire year since our APPE year and they made us do X amount of questions per month or they’d hold up our graduation. I think this was very good but I felt some of the questions on uworld were overkill to an extent.
I’m thrilled to be done. I had the biggest fear of not being able to get everything done in time for residency but it now seems to be all working out. This week I’m going to start studying for the NY MPJE (also using pharmpreppro for since they sold a NY MPJE and NAPLEX bundle).
Was wondering if I should take the umpje in addition to the mpje. Do you think it would be worth it? I have a pgy1 but don’t know where I’ll do my pgy2
I am legitimately writing this as I am walking out of the test center. I had my mother drive me to the test center so I could study on my way to the exam (LIFE HACK!) I also bought additional biostats practice questions from pharmpreppro as I felt uworld didn’t have enough practice on that. They were good and it wasn’t too expensive honestly.
Really hoping this all goes well. I took a little over 4 hours to take this exam. I got the earliest time so I could hang out with my friends for the rest of the day before I start studying for my law exam. Residency starts in a few more days so this is really do or die for me right now but all and all it wasn’t as bad as the horror stories I see here. Maybe my opinion will change as I start looking up my questions and answers.
I think I became full blown nocturnal at this point studying that my sleep schedule is all messed up. I basically have married my Uworld prep book as we been “getting serious” with our long sessions 😂
The real question is how do I stand now. I am now currently scoring on the uworld practice questions low 70s to high 80s depending on the topic. And I just finished taking my SECOND pharmpreppro exam which is now a 77. For context my first exam was a 66 three weeks ago. I am starting to feel much better as I finally hit a good score on the exam.
I want to finish strong for this last week or so before I sit. I want to cover all the topics I got wrong on my ppp exam, then focus math and pharmacy management and ethics.
Is this a good way to do it?
I took one of the two practice Naplex exams from the bundle today and now I’m really freaking out. It took me 6.5 hours to complete the exam AND THE TIMER STARTED TO COUNT NEGATIVE AFTER I RAN OUT OF TIME! I was still able to finish it dispite that and I got a 66.
I start my residency in about 5 weeks and we were told to have the Naplex passed before we walk in. I’m really stressing out. Will 4 more weeks of studying really pick up my score that much? Please help!!!! I feel like my world is crumbling around me. I don’t want to be judged by the hospital I heard preceptors judge students who fail the first time around.
I’ve been studying world about a few hours a week for the past month and a half since I found out I’ve been accepted into residency. Anyone think I can take an early June spot? Friends who have already graduated warned me that I won’t be able to test until July. Is this true??
