There will be no Isagi downfall

There will be no Isagi downfall

This whole thing is ridiculous. I'm not going to get into the technical aspects because Kaneishiro clearly knows nothing about soccer, but he just doesn't want Isagi to have a downfall. If the play fails, it won't be Isagi's fault; it will be entirely Rin's. It's just ridiculous and annoying. The community won't be angry at Isagi, only at Rin, and that bastard has already had too much development! If Isagi's downfall really starts, it would mean it's because he can't manage his toxic relationship with Rin, and that's a shame.

The Japan U20 vs Blue Lock match is just incoherent: Shidou should have been the hero

It's not normal that in the Japan U20 vs. Blue Lock match, the hero of the match was Isagi. Shidou literally played a better game. Remember, he only played 45 minutes but scored 2 goals. (For those who will tell me that Shidou needed Sae to achieve his best performance, that's false! For the simple reason that Sae clearly tells us that it's thanks to a player like Shidou that he was able to achieve his best performance; it's the same for Charles Chevalier.) He's equivalent to Rin Flow at 50% of his base form. He was able to boost the morale of the Japanese team -> he scored 2 goals, which allowed the Japanese team to continue believing in the possibility of winning. Above all, all the players noticed that when Shidou entered the game, Japan U20 became extremely dangerous and that they could... Competing with Blue Lock, in the end it's because of Sae that they lost the Japan U20 match. If Sae hadn't gone along with Rin's provocation, Shidou could have scored his 3rd goal!

Especially since the two goals Shidou scored deserve a Puskas award; he was the most impressive player in terms of both his level of play and his spectacular performances.

I think that's where things went downhill; the author wanted to develop the homosexual relationship between Isagi and Rin more than to develop the main theme of his manga, selfishness.

Eve is a disappointing character in Invincible

I find it extremely unfortunate that Eve's character in the Invincible series is reduced to being Mark's girlfriend. Initially, the character seemed interesting; her power could literally end world hunger and also undermine capitalism. She was presented that way in seasons 1 and 2 (even though by the end we understood she was going to get together with Mark). Then, in seasons 3 and 4, her entire storyline boils down to being Mark's girlfriend.

I think it's the same in the comic book sequel, but I haven't read it. You can spoil it for me, but please specify beforehand. There are other people who will read this post and won't want to be spoiled!

Also, I'm speaking from what I remember of seasons 1, 2, and 3 of Invincible. I only saw the series once, and that was when it first aired, so I might be wrong.

Rem or Emilia: This is a philosophical debate between a man trying to understand love, and a woman's opinion would be interesting.

I think the debate between Rem and Emilia is a debate about how we, as individuals, and especially as men, view romantic love. It's not just a question of who's right or wrong, but also about who understands the Re:Zero story better. Who understands best what love means according to Tappei? I don't know if I've been clear. It's also about how we accept something we've been told from the beginning, because being on Rem's side means questioning what the author has told us from the start: Emilia is the endgame. I find this extremely interesting. I think it's a shame there aren't any women on this subreddit; it would be so interesting if they could share their perspectives.

I hate this theory about Aldebaran

I would be disappointed to learn that Aldebaran is Subaru's uncle/brother. I know many people theorize that Al could be a member of Subaru's family from the isekai series. At no point in the Re:Zero storyline we've followed so far has it been implied that Subaru's family history before Subaru was important to the world of Re:Zero. That's why I still believe Al is the child of one of these possibilities:

- Flugel x Echidna

- Flugel x Satella

- Subaru x Rem

- Subaru x Emilia

- an alternate version of Subaru

- Flugel himself

- A Flugel/subaru clone

Why Aldebarn can't be the child of... (spoiler)

Al isn't Rem's or Emilia's child, otherwise it would mean that Rem or Emilia would have a child in arc 11 or 12. It's possible, but would Tappei have the motivation to create a story with a pregnant woman? If we find out that Al is Emilia's or Rem's child, the characters in question would be quite surprised. Imagine Trunks during his first time travel telling Buu and Vegeta that they're not yet a couple and that he's their child that wouldn't fly! You see what I mean?!

If One Piece's greatest strength is its worldbuilding, then the manga isn't all that great

If One Piece's greatest strength is its worldbuilding, then the manga isn't all that great! I believe there's a fundamental rule in writing: worldbuilding is the last thing an author should focus on. Otherwise, when they finish their story, if the ending isn't good, then everything they've built will have been for nothing. It makes me think of One Piece. I think that if the revelation of what One Piece is has no connection to One Piece's worldbuilding, its lore, or is simply disappointing, then all the lore development will have been pointless...

Review of the Magi anime (just seasons 1 and 2)

I would like to point out that my review will be in 5 parts: the first is animation and visuals, the second is scenario and themes, the third is the characters, the fourth is aesthetics and cultural representation, and the fifth is the universe (power system and worldbuilding).

Part 1: Animation and Visuals

The animation is solid. For the 2010s, it must have been impressive, even if shows like Hunter x Hunter, Attack on Titan, or Assassination Classroom looked better at the time. Overall, the visuals get the job done.

However, I have an issue with the direction: I find it a shame that we don't truly feel how special, difficult, and incredible a dungeon is supposed to be. It lacks impact; I hope the manga captures that sense of scale better.

Part 2: Storyline and Themes

The plot is good, but nothing more. My main gripe is how the story handles "the people."

  • The Balbadd Arc: I was shocked by Alibaba's attitude. While the people clearly state they are tired of taxes and royal tyranny, Alibaba simply replaces a corrupt royalty with another form of monarchy. It’s completely nonsensical.
  • The Magnostadt Arc: This nation is built on the exploitation of slaves, draining their life energy. Yet, the author seems to side with the magicians. Matal Mogamett’s rhetoric is practically Hitler-esque, and I don't understand why we are forced to feel compassion for him. The protagonists never truly prove him wrong when he claims magicians are "noble" seekers of knowledge while non-magicians only care about sex, alcohol, and domination. It reminds me of "masculinist" rhetoric on the internet explaining that men seek wealth only because they can't create life like women do.
  • The End of Season 2: The final episodes were weak. Arba appears out of nowhere to become the main antagonist, and her backstory felt disconnected from the core themes of the Magnostadt arc.
  • PS: We agree that the situation in Magnostadt is the equivalent of Israel/Palestine, or a representation of it?

Part 3: Characters

  • Aladdin: I don't find him interesting as a character. It's a bit tedious to follow him, and the same goes for Alibaba after the Balbadd arc.
  • Morgiana: The development surrounding her past as a slave is extremely unsettling. Early on, the anime implies that escaping slavery is just a matter of "willpower." That is delusional—slavery breaks a person's psyche; regaining freedom isn't just a question of "wanting it" enough. Also, I find it a shame that her trauma is turned into a running gag (her constant apologizing).
  • Others: I’ll hold off on judging the rest of the cast until I finish the manga.

Part 4: Aesthetics and Cultural Representation

I feel like Arab culture wasn't respected; the author has a very Westernized vision of the Arab world. The only character who actually felt "Arab" to me was Kassim. The others just felt like Japanese characters in Arab clothing. They have the same tropes (like the perverted jokes) and the same type of "innocence" found in typical Japanese protagonists. Even the names "Aladdin" and "Alibaba" are Westernized versions of names that Westerners assigned to the Arab world, rather than names actually used within the culture.

Part 5: The Universe (Power System & Worldbuilding)

  • The Power System: It's actually pretty cool and well-thought-out.
  • Dungeons: Honestly, they are underwhelming. There are no real puzzles, and exploring them feels tedious. I’m not sure if that was intentional, but I didn't enjoy it.
  • Worldbuilding: For me, worldbuilding is usually the least important part of a story, so I didn't have high expectations, but it definitely does the job well here. Note: I hope my review wasn't too repetitive and that my points were clear. Let me know in the comments if there’s anything you didn't understand!

Reinhard's downfall: theory arc Reinhard's Downfall: Arc 10 Theory (You're going to hate him)

I think this arc will allow Tappei to fulfill one of his dearest wishes: the fandom will finally hate Reinhard van Astrea!

Before beginning, we have to understand what Reinhard's character represents and his purpose in the story of Re:Zero (this remains my interpretation, but I think I'm right):

  • Subaru's Mirror: Reinhard is the perfect character. His narrative purpose is to be constantly compared to Subaru. If Subaru manages to achieve something through perseverance, one wonders, could Reinhard have done it with his sheer strength?
  • The Fallen Savior Syndrome: A perfect character like Reinhard must, at one point or another, fall to the "dark side," otherwise this type of archetype loses its appeal. Reinhard falls into the same lineage as characters like Homelander, Anakin Skywalker, or Paul Atreides: the hero who carried the hopes of the world but ultimately fails tragically.

Furthermore, from Reinhard's point of view, he has solid reasons for wanting to capture and question Subaru: he knows that Subaru carries the scent of the Witch of Envy (as mentioned in a spin-off), and he sees him succeed where he himself sometimes fails. Besides, Tappei mentioned that a future chapter from Reinhard's POV would contain massive plot spoilers.

Point 1: Reinhard will kill Wilhelm

I believe we will witness another confrontation between Reinhard and Wilhelm, during which Reinhard will kill his own grandfather. This parricide would be the result of several factors: anger, despair, and incomprehension at Wilhelm's stubbornness to protect Subaru. To Reinhard, the accusations against the Emilia Camp seem justified, and more importantly, the Council of Sages will demand the elimination of all "outlaws" protecting Subaru (which Wilhelm is now a part of). This murder would be Reinhard's true breaking point.

Edit: He can kill Heinkel but not Wilhelm because Wilhelm has to have a confrontation with Pandora.

Point 2: Reinhard will psychologically destroy Emilia

Next, Reinhard will attack Emilia's mind. Knowing that Subaru bears Satella's scent, and perhaps suspecting (which would justify the infamous POV spoiler) that Emilia shares the Witch's face, he will sow doubt. He will tell Emilia that Subaru is actually working with the Witch of Envy.

Eaten away by doubt, Emilia will eventually confront Subaru in the presence of Crusch (who can detect lies). She will ask him three fateful questions:

  • Are you linked to the Witch Cult? -> Subaru will answer "No." Crusch will confirm he is telling the truth.
  • Are you linked to Satella? -> Subaru will answer "No," but Crusch, shocked, will state that he is lying.
  • Do I look like Satella? -> To protect her, Subaru will answer "No," but Crusch will once again reveal that he is lying.

Point 3: Reinhard will make a pact with Pandora

Reinhard suffers from a deep malaise related to his disproportionate strength. By the end of the arc, he will be so disgusted by his own actions (having killed his family and betrayed his friends out of duty to the nobles) that he will seek to rid himself of his powers. That is where Pandora will step in. Although shrouded in mystery, she is capable of such a miracle. Reinhard will make a pact with her so he can finally live as an ordinary human, freed from all his Divine Protections.

A Few Factual Clarifications to Ground Your Theory

To fuel your thoughts, here are a few points from the current story (notably from Arc 10, Chapter 18) that can either nuance or strengthen your ideas:

  • The Dragon Sword Reid: Careful with a slight nuance here! The sword doesn't consider Subaru (or anyone else) "worthy" of wielding it. It draws itself against opponents or situations it deems worthy of its blade. Furthermore, the exact conditions for its activation remain an absolute mystery.
  • Reinhard's Motivations: Currently, Reinhard acts strictly out of duty. He states that his feelings are irrelevant and that he is merely the "sword of the Kingdom". He also does everything he can to avoid casualties, going so far as to face Garfiel alone to spare his soldiers. If he does eventually snap and kill Wilhelm, it will likely be due to an insurmountable conflict between his blind duty and his humanity.
  • The Accusations Against Subaru: In Chapter 18, Otto clearly points out that the situation is a completely orchestrated setup. Reinhard isn't necessarily fooled, but as the perfect soldier, he obeys the orders from the Royal Castle.

Do you think Reinhard's absolute loyalty to the Kingdom and the Council of Sages will consistently outweigh his own moral convictions, or is there a red line he would refuse to cross?

Why did Subaru never investigate the world of Re:Zero?!

What do you think about Subaru never investigating the world of Re:Zero? (He should have known about the Reid Astreas legend during arc 6.) He never investigates the fact that Emilia is Satella, why Satella loves him, and why he was teleported to that world. He wasn't busy for a year, what was he doing during that year? There was a man's underpants between arcs 4 and 5. Tell me what you think!

I don't think the main path the one we’re following is the Path of Envy.

I think some people will say it's crazy and that it doesn't make sense, but have you ever considered that Envy might not be a 'negative' sin? It’s pretty surprising that all the paths embodying sins end badly, while the 'worst' sin of all should actually end well. Especially since, on the Path of Envy, Subaru has never actually shown envy; he has never acted out of desire for what others have.

We're nearing the end of One Piece, but Oda is still adding mysteries...

So yes, we knew there was a rain god (I'm not going to make fun of the name Zaza because the main character has become a cartoon character...) It's just ridiculous to introduce him in this chapter, we're just tired of it, introduce him to us at the same time as his user, it just creates new hype that's artificial and that's a shame because One Piece doesn't need it...

I just learned that Reinhard was written to be hated; for example, when he kills Theresia, we were supposed to hate him. But we're talking about the GOAT, the god Reinhard. Is Tappei crazy?

So, do you think he's going to do something horrible in the upcoming arcs, especially arcs 10 and 11, so we can hate him? I hope so.

Who should be queen between these two women?!

Felt wants to end the monarchy, promote a fair redistribution of wealth, and essentially supports all left-wing ideas.

Emilia wants to end racism against demi-humans and is also very supportive of left-wing ideals.

Between these two characters who truly deserve to be queen, the answer is quite obvious! It's Felt. Some say Felt doesn't have the necessary mentality to be a queen; she's too immature. Do you really think she'll rule alone, Lugincia? She'll have all the help she can get. Emilia will be Minister Against Racism, Anastasia (if she doesn't die) will be Minister of the Economy, Crush will be Minister of the Armed Forces, and so on.

Then, the people's real problems can only be solved by someone who comes from the people and becomes one of them, and that's Felt. She always dresses like a commoner even though she has access to Reinhard's purse. Not to mention that Felt is the royal family's heir apparent. Finally, don't forget that the people know who Reinhard is, and if they have to choose a side, they'll choose the side with Reinhard; it's somewhat understandable.

What about the purpose of the Eliore Forest? Do you really think that Felt, or any candidate for the throne, wouldn't have given the Dragon Flame, especially since their camp is literally the one that has accomplished the most miracles in the last two years? Even Priscilla would have given it.
