In disbelief….in amazing way!

After 7 years of progressing SI joint and back pain. Fatigue and all the traditional symptoms of inflammatory arthritis I started a three month trial of Humira this week. My first injection was this past Monday. My pain…..nearly all of my pain is GONE. I woke up this morning, after not having woken up multiple times overnight from pain and having to reposition, jumped out of bed and hugged my wife in the bath room and said…. I don’t hurt. For the first time in YEARS. I just can’t believe it worked so quickly.

Feeling gaslit

New rheum order x-rays and results came back. Degenerative changes all throughout top to bottom but the only part of my back that hurts is my SI joint. I’ve had multiple x-rays over 7 years showing sacro-ilitis. Results above on most recent X-rays. Screams chronic inflammation to me.

I truly believe I have inflammatory spondyloarthropathy. Most recent CRP/Sed rate were mildly elevated. First time ever for that. The x-ray result highlighted to me show chronic inflammation of the SI joint. I lean towards AxSpa because it’s equal on both sides. OA would usually be just one side or one side worse than the other. Combine with symptom presentation….started in my early 30’s, SI joint, pain worse with rest, wakes me up from night. AM stiffness that takes several hours to loosen up + huge family rheum history.

I saw my PCP today who agree this absolutley shows signs of inflammation. Rheum office called and said X-rays all degenerative no signs of inflammation at all.

That being said I’ve been approved to trial Humira. The rheum has made it very clear that she does not believe I have it, does not think it will work. Also doesn’t believe in serology negative AxSpa.

I’m sorry that id rather prevent my joint from fusing if I can rather than sit around and let it fuse to prove to someone there’s something wrong with me 🤷🏼‍♂️

Maybe I’m wrong….but my pain and symptoms are very very real.

Rheum appt finally

I posted about two months ago (see linked post) and finally had my rheum appt. She was fairly uninterested and asked me a single question. So what’s going on? While my case is not clear and dry apparently in her experience if I have spondyloarthropathy my serology should be thru the roof and imaging should
Look crappy. I’ve had a few X-rays show sacro-ilitis. When I saw my PCP 2 months ago I was in a flair type situation for me for about a month. Waking up in the middle of the night with searing pain localizes to SI joint. Sed rate and CRP mildly elevated. The first proof in my mind that I haven’t been crazy this whole time.

At first she was pretty much like you don’t have this and I didn’t get angry or anything but kinda made my case. She sort of accused me of “wanting to be on biologics” cause he patients don’t ever want that unless they absolutley have to. Well I have railed mobic and naproxen therapy and high dose anti-inflammatories aren’t really an option for me due to bariatric surgery. I’ve just never been given any other options and if 1) it would help with my pain and 2) PREVENT damage I would be interred.

Anyways she order labs and X-rays and is trying to get Humira approved for a 3 month trial. If it helps she’ll dx. If not pretty much I don’t have it and don’t need to see her anymore.

TLDR: possibly getting to trial biologics. Got what I wanted but at the same time don’t really feel like I was heard and def don’t get the sense she thinks it’s going to help.

1938-D Walking Liberty Half

Cataloging some of my dads coins for him and came across this beauty. Key Date. Too bad it’s not an MS state but still a gorgeous $100+ coin.

1881-S Morgan NCI grading

Anybody run across these old NCI graded coins. Looks like they were active from the mid-80’s to early 90’s. The owners valuation is absolute nonsense but what about the grading? Fair?
