I’ve climbed from g1 to D5 using a more “aggressive” / “distract them” playstyle . So with that in mind I’d LOVE feedback on what I could’ve done differently to help us break into first point here . Or anything of note that you notice that will help me continue to climb up the ranks

Just reached mid d1 last night and I do watch some content creators while I know there’s mixed reviews on him I mostly watched awkward which helped change my play style.
In that same vein I’m looking for coaching or tips /tricks to help me continue the climb while maintaining the “aggressive”/ keep people distracted mentality gameplay.
I’ve been a masters bastion 1 trick back in ow1
Ps- I know spilo has great reviews but his wait time I believe is long to get coaching.

Here’s the overview of the 1 shot
Far below the ocean surface sits Blackreach Penitentiary — an underwater super-prison built to hold the worst criminals in the world.
Three hours ago, Blackreach went dark.
Communications failed. Emergency alarms activated. Riot broadcasts flooded naval channels before abruptly cutting out.
Now a small extraction team is being sent into the abyss with one objective:
Retrieve Prisoner Delta-V alive.
The prison is collapsing into chaos:
inmate factions control entire sectors
security systems malfunction unpredictably
flooded corridors are beginning to rupture under pressure
surviving guards are executing prisoners on sight
something about this riot feels…off

In from time to time into my campaign for my players ! There are 6 players in the campaign (level 4 currently )
Bard
Ranger
Cleric
Barbarian
Fighter
Paladin
I’m looking for even simple things like “make the liquid inside the potion bottle a mimic” to complex world altering plot twists
Here’s a synopsis of what’s happened this far
Running a homebrew campaign in a town called Greyhaven, and things just escalated hard. Looking for ideas on where to take it next.
The core concept is that the town sits on top of an ancient system of “seals” holding back something on the other side of the Veil. The party didn’t know that at the start—they’ve been uncovering it piece by piece as things get worse.
Here’s where we are now:
The party learned the Veil isn’t passive. It’s actively pushing into the world through unstable tears.
Two PCs developed strange markings on their hands tied to it. No one fully understands what they mean yet.
Last session, everything blew up.
During a fight inside the inn, a Veil tear opened mid-combat. Out of it came something called Omeet, the Tethered Warden—a being that literally emerged from those markings.
The fight was brutal.
Omeet killed two party members and dragged another into the Veil in front of everyone.
The tear closed.
Session ended.
**Current State**
The party is standing in the wreckage of the inn
Two PCs are dead on the floor
One is gone, pulled into something they don’t understand
The Veil has proven it can reach into the world and take people
Whatever is behind it is starting to feel intentional, not random
They haven’t reached the seal system yet—but that’s next.
I’ve also been breadcrumbing that **Seal Two is being held together by the cleric’s missing mentor**, who she’s been searching for this entire campaign. The players don’t know the full truth yet, but the connection is there.
