Incoming Noob question regarding power delivery

Hi everyone,

Not exclusively a WLED question but I figured you'd have the answer. Once upon a time a was tinkering with WLED on a D1 mini and a WS2812B. I plugged an old 5V phone charger directly into the D1 mini and powered about 7m of LED strip from that and everything was great.

Now I'm refreshing my knowledge since I haven't touched it in years and everything I read says there's no way I should be able to power that many LEDs directly from the D1 mini. I'm seeing 7 LEDs max in most places.

So my question is, how many LEDs should I be able to power by connecting the LED strip directly to the D1 mini?

Thanks.

12V cooler popping fuses.

I have a 2017 CX9 and my mother lent me her cooler that plugs into a cigarette lighter because it has built in heating and cooling so the cigarette lighter in the back is perfect for this, however on my trip the breaker popped twice. It's a 15A fuse and according to the specs, the cooler is only 47W which puts it just under 4A. From what I can tell there is nothing else using this circuit besides the front passenger cigarette lighter which wasn't being used.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this? The only electrical modification is an add-a-fuse to a different circuit that powers the dash cam.

Thanks

Quick Question from someone still a little confused about Matter

I was looking at getting a dumb ceiling fan and making it smart, then I saw this thing on sale:

https://www.costco.ca/p/-/hunter-aerosync-50-in-127-cm-smart-ceiling-fan/4000402646

It's Matter but doesn't say over Thread or Wi-Fi, I'm guessing over Wi-Fi. Does that mean I can just hook it up, use my existing home assistant install on my network to control it over Wi-Fi completely local? If it was Matter over Thread, I'd need a separate device like I do for ZigBee and ZWave right? Or does this thing still rely on the cloud? It seems like it doesn't use SIMPLEConnect anymore so there's not a lot of info on integrating it.

Did Alex pave the way for personal channels?

I remember watching one of Alex's first videos on his new channel where he explains one of the reasons he left was he wanted his own car channel but LMG didn't allow it and shortly after he left they changed their policy. I've noticed my feed is exploding with both current and former employees. Jakkuh's is 9 months old, BocaBola is around a year and of course Zip Tie Tuning is about a year. Now I see Bud n' Pal. Did Alex leaving allow for all of these other channels, specifically ones from current employees, to exist?

Where to find hand made leather wallets?

I'm doing a roadtrip loop this summer, coming in through Jasper, going to the Williams Lake area, then to the Shuswap and back out through Banff.

Does anyone know of any place along the way (minor detours are fine) that hand make leather wallets?

Thanks!

Bellroy wallet equivalent?

I'm in the market for a new wallet and I'm seeing recommendations all over the place for Bellroy but figured I'd check for a Canadian company first. I did find Popov but I read they're thicker and their prices are quite a bit more than Bellroy.

Does anyone have any suggestions around the same price as a Bellroy (low $100s, depending on style)?

Thanks

Ceiling fan options with Home Assistant

I'm looking to install a ceiling fan in the master bedroom. I currently have a light only to a single light switch. Doing a lot of research I've come across three options:

*A smart ceiling fan. These seem to all be WiFi which is not preferred and the affordable ones are all children brands of the same Chinese company. I don't yet know if they phone home or require cloud, I wasn't able to definitively find that information. Easiest to install and presumably reliable.

*An RF/IR bridge similar to the Bond Bridge. Seems to be the least reliable.

*A ZigBee module similar to the one from Inovelli. Most reliable but also the most expensive.

Does anyone have experience with any of the above options and their reliability, install complexity, etc?
