PR and PGWP

Hi !

I just need an advice considering my situation.

I live in NS (Halifax) for the past 4.5 years ! Did my masters and working in a X company for almost 2 years now (TEER-3) role.

My employer applied for PNP as well ! So, I went through PNP express (in Nova Scotia) and I’m applying for CEC as well.

I have around 514 CRS score.

I have a few questions,

  1. Do I need to get an ECA, if I had my bachelors degree from a foreign country? (Masters from Canada)

  2. If my PGWP is expiring in 2 months, what should I consider ?
\- Apply for a visitor visa and stay until I get an update on my file

OR

\- I just leave the country for now and get foreign experience for a year.

My first job was in Canada ! So, i d not have work experience from any other country.

I’m okay with anything.

Just asking for an advice if anyone was in this place.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Exp. PM’s - Portfolio architecture

Hello,

To all PM’s or startup founders out there,

I am trying to create a portfolio to showcase my product thinking, how I own the product end to end and showcase product delivery and strategy.
However, I am confused from online portfolios.

Every portfolio that I came across was similar template like a case study. (Nothing wrong with it) But, I just don’t want my product to look like a case study. Instead of that, I want mine to look from user lens and founder lens ! So that a problem can be found through the user lens and from founder lens explains , why building it ? And how I build it ? Is it worth building this ? By conducting research, competitive analysis and development and building and iteration and building and testing ..loop. I want to showcase that.

Personally, I do not have PM role experience or anything. Graduated from Uni, and currently a project coordinator (process improvement).

In addition to that, I am building (beta) a startup which was basically a B2B2C project.
Firstly, I didn’t know that I will pivot into product roles. But, somehow while building this, I have realized that I am quite interested in product building and development and management.

I owned the product from end to end, from product discovery and ideation process including conducting user interviews on both business side and customers side. Learned Figma, excali to map out flows and wireframes to design the screens. Learned and utilized ai tools like Claude code, cursor, codex, eleven labs etc. and built almost 84 SQL schemas. (Was into it)
Learned sales on GTM, value proposition and pricing strategies. Invested my time into product development processes like agile, PRD’s, FAQ’s, lean canvas templates etc.

I feel like I have enough content to write something about it. But I really don’t know how to showcase or illustrate. I really don’t want anyone to think like this is a case study. I want to leave a mark that “this is a really nice product story or storytelling”

I only have one startup product in my entire life ! Maybe that’s why I am thinking I do not have enough product knowledge or content to write a portfolio. ?

My idea was to create a dual view (with a toggle), keeping skimmers and in-depth readers in mind. This way I could have managers or PM’s can look into skimming version (4-5 mins of content) and in-depth version, I would like to go very detailed about every stage so that people can read into it (curios ones like startup founders, future founders or students etc)

I am no professional founder. But, I have faced lot of problems and made iterations and updated the product ! Basically it can be like startup journal (documentation). But i don’t if it’s the right thing.

Thats why i really need help before i invest too much time into this.

My focus is to make this startup workout but also i could apply for startup roles, product roles (product builder or any). I know I might not be a great candidate for PM (I don’t have experience in product management or any product role)

Please help if you can ! I would really appreciate your support.

Thanks for reading !

If you’re in my shoes, What would you do ? Pivoting into startup and product industry

Hi,
I am 25 years old from Canada. I graduated with a Masters in Cybersecurity but I work in project management (as a project coordinator). Completely different lol.
I have worked for Walmart as a product development analyst for a year.
I am working on my own startup while working in project management.

I always want to create things, my interest made me to even send few ideas for apps to the product managers and few CEO’s on LinkedIn and emails - this happened when I was in college.

One day, I had this problem and no one or no tool helped me solve that. So, I asked my friends and colleagues even strangers like asking on a transit, have you ever faced this problem? And how did you solve it ?
Those questions always on my mind for everything.
Slowly I started creating solution for that problem. Which became my startup solution.

Before building I have asked 83 different people about this and asking for what else did they face! What tools, processes, etc..I started digging and asked questions like I’m interviewing them.
Made almost everything but later I met this guy and he said what would you do if someone did this ? And I started researching about that in competitors systems. And created 3 different versions of my product.

What i want to say is. I don’t know what this is, but I’m interested in this. When I spoke to one of the product leaders in a big company in silicon valley, he said this is what someone in product management or even in an early startup would do.

Since then I started concentrating on my startup and developing it, as thinking from business side and as well as user side, what features makes them more profitable or saves time or money. Not housing it, but asking people about what would they do, if they ever face it, and I start giving options which includes one of my ideas, and then I reverse engineer.

Now, I am thinking to move into product management, but somewhere I feel, am I even eligible? I don’t come from a prestigious or tier-1 school ! I’m in Canada ! Not even USA !

if you are in my shoes, what would you do ?

Is this product management ? If I am like this, would you think this product management is right for me ?

Thank you !
