VA data center propaganda

virginiaconnects.com

Virginia’s data centers are the heartbeat of our modern lives, connecting people, enabling essential services like healthcare, education, and public safety, and driving innovations in all sectors of our economy. They also bring substantial benefits to the communities where they operate.

Keep seeing commercials on this.

"96% of the time, data centers use 0 gallons of water". How the fuck much do they use the other 4% and how do we benefit if they don't pay taxes?

Thoughts on low code jobs

Recently laid off and looking for work. An opportunity may be available to work with a company using Appian. It appears to be a low code/AI application for building flows. Im familiar with ServiceNow, Alteryx, and SSIS.

Question: would this be a bad career move? 10yoe full stack. Not sure if those skills are going to be useful elsewhere and my other skills will atrophy.

Why is Fitbit setup spamming me?

  • Pixel 8
  • I don't have Fitbit or Google Health installed.
  • Fitbit device not in phone's bluetooth list
  • I have a Fitbit that has been factory reset and waiting to be sold.
  • Reset phone

Why do i get notifications periodically to setup my Fitbit?

I'm not Walmart or Amazon

USPS has gotten really expensive. I'm not hardcore trying to make money; i just want my used stuff to not go to waste. Some extra cash is nice too.

Buyer pretty much had whole weekend to ask to cancel. I would have totally done it. They wait until i shipped it. Then submitted the request after my response. I'm not going to eat the cost on shipping. It wasn't cheap.

Install woes

I just installed cachyos yesterday. While not a specific cachyos issue, maybe it will help other people.

My bios would not boot to the cachyos usb image. Created a boot option to the bootx64.efi file. Secure boot disabled. No usb boot options in my bios.

Tried different USB, even tried Mint image, nothing.

Eventually tried another USB with old Ubuntu server image. That worked. Problem was on the USB 3.2 that i had. Installed cachyos from my old USB 1.0 (took forever) and worked right away.

Skill building

My project is over and i have a month paid to skill build. After that time, if a new project is not available, job search time. I've got 7yoe (officially).

- How do you handle unstructured time like this yet still be effective? I'm already stressed trying to stay busy with nothing to do.
