What midi keyboard do you use with your iPad?

I really feel like the roli seaboard block is such an underrated iPad keyboard. Here it is pictured with an 11 inch iPad and it fits really well. It has 5d touch technology so it recognises how hard you push down and you can do some funky things with slides too.

Only issue is it's probably a bit hard to play actual songs on it 😂 until you get more familiar. I like the arturia minilab 3 too bit it's a bit hard and you need a wire to connect it.

Does anybody use LK and AUM to make songs on the ipad?

For those who arent familiar LK is like a session view, you can record midi loops on it and then trigger them off by a click or automated. You can basically program in a full song for intro verse chorus etc in blocks rather than a linear view.

I have recently got into IPad Music creation and started using AUM after previously always being a laptop/ableton guy, I was creating nice loops and loving the freedom of AUM but didnt know how to finish them off.

So...

I bought Visual Synthesiser 2 after seeing how great it looked for adding visuals to your loops and was having trouble linking all of the midi channels to the beats
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vs-visual-synthesizer-2/id6749264228

But then I watched a video and it showed off how it linked to another program they make called LK and that made me see the potential for making songs in AUM

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lk-ableton-midi-controller/id944972221

Now I really like it, as I used to use Ableton in session mode a lot this reminded be a lot of that, its not the easiest plugin Ive used and there are a lot of back and forth connections so far. As I have been creating the loop, then Ill link each part to LK and record them onto channels there.

Some little bugs Ive been having though, sometimes even though I have it triggered to record the midi doesnt always record first time, I dont know what Im doing wrong here. For some reason when I was recording from patterning 3 it played a huge long note that I have to delete afterwards. And when I tried to add automation earlier on it was looking good, but the volume slider was changing a different track in AUM. I dont think the piano roll is as user friendly as something like atom 2.

Just feels like this software has so much potential but nobody is talking about it. There is no uploaded videos on youtube when I search for LK AUM, everything is from 5 years ago and Im sure its improved since then as they still do updates, there was even one just today.

Does anyone else still use this? I really want to keep at it as I think it could be a brilliant solution to making full tracks within AUM, but I am slowly resigning to the fact that maybe I should just get cubasis in the next sale instead.

Disappointed with the Sonos Move 2 line in

Maybe I should have done some more research but I saw that the move 2 had a line in and that was a big selling point to me.

But I was trying it out with a drum pad earlier and the delay is HUGE!

I Get maybe it's not possible if you are linking two speakers together but just using the move by itself you'd think they could get rid of the delay to open it up for more uses

Did you update your package after a year?

My 12 months period just ended and I've been considering upgrading. The product is great for me but because of that I'm wondering if I should upgrade or not if I'm currently happy enough with it.

Just looking at the pricing and it is 49 if I do it now or 69 if I do it later.

Does anyone know if there are any major developments planned in the next year that would sway me to get it now?

Thanks

I sold my Ableton Move and bought lots of AUv3 apps

I don't know if I just made a crazy mistake...

But I wasn't using my Ableton move very much and I bought a new synth, my laptop was broken at the time so I tried hooking it up to my iPad, ended up downloading AUM and some moog synths.

It worked so well and I was intrigued by it I went down a massive rabbit hole, ended up buying more and more apps until I was creating loops I would never make using Ableton move!

Then I just went all in and was pretty much filling every gap the iPad had to make it into a system that would be able to compete with Ableton, so I could do everything on the iPad!

I think the apps I would consider essential have been some of the fabfilter ones, they all add something really premium and the presets are all very usable. For drums I love patterning 3, and my favourite synths are the moog ones.

I also really like visual synthesizer 2, for the price it seems like such a bargain, really brings your projects up to another level being able to create visuals too.

I've been linking it all together at the moment with LK, but might revisit this at some point. But for now I've probably spent all my Ableton move money on iPad apps and I think I've made the right choice!

Has anyone created a completed track on an iPad before?

Just wondering what your process is, I have been buying a lot of apps and I think I have an idea in my head as to how to do it but not sure if there are better ways?

So I am using AUM with all my channels linked up together with synths, effects and piano rolls or creative apps.

Then once I have a nice loop I was planning on recording each midi section into LK.

From there I would just copy the loop into different tracks and edit the midi sections to use a build up etc

And then send this through a mix bus A where I would use pro q 4 to make it sound better.

I think that flows right. I'm just used to Ableton workflows so it's not as neat having to copy them over to LK, but I think that's the best fit at the moment for me?

What is your process? Do you find it easy enough or do you end up just recording things and then working on them in another app like Ableton?

Thanks!

Anyone use an Ableton Move with an iPad?

I have been using my iPad a lot lately for creating music with AUM and lots of different synths and effects that way.

Just wondering if adding an Ableton move for this would be worthwhile or if it wouldn't really add anything?

I already have a move but I haven't used it much lately

Just started using an iPad for music with synths....

So I've just bought...

Aturia microfreak, drumbrute, minilab 3, and I had some korg volcas from a while back too

I've hooked them up through a motu M4 to the iPad and I installed AUM to set all the channels and add effects.

I'm still trying to learn how to do everything, haven't really played around with looping on koala and atom 2 still. But everything seems to be set up nicely and it's all playing in time.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips for other apps that would work well in my setup, or just how the workflow should be.

Im used to making music on Ableton with a push 2, where it's very slow and not as free. So I don't really know what to expect from moving to more of a jam setup, but it's really fun so far anyways! I had bought Ableton note, but I don't know if that's really needed, as I think I can save recordings and just transfer them to my laptop with Ableton live to edit things later?

Thanks for any comments!

Do you think this week will help bring the team together?

Just wondering, after the huge disappointment against Southampton and the way the players looked really drained. Do you think the team will be able to focus on the pitch now with all the talk that's continuing on around them?

I hope we see a focused positive team on the weekend, as Hull will be up for this and their physicality will cause us problems for sure

Just bought a drumbrute impact but it sounds odd to me.

I watched some YouTube videos alongside it and all the sounds when I'm pressing the buttons don't sound the same.

I don't know if there's something wrong with the unit, but I'm just listening through headphones and there's literally no sound until I push the volume up past half way, and then it just starts getting really distorted even with distortion turned off.

Am I doing something wrong? I don't want to return it if that's how it's meant to be. I was just following the knobs in the YouTube video and his sounded really clean where as mine sounded really distorted.
