I modified my first guitar.

My first electric was a Squier Showmaster NLT

After some years passing and some gear changes. I decided to repurpose it as a more straightforward heavy guitar.

Drop C, Artex HXTN rail humbucker, 1 volume and scalloped last frets

Have a great day y’all!

Need help routing Boss ME-70 with Blackstar HT-5 (Better cleans + Rectifier high gain)

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on how to properly route my gear to get the best of both worlds. I am currently experiencing some "tone suck" and want to rewrite my signal path.

My Current Gear:
Amp: Blackstar HT-5 Mini Stack (has an FX Loop)
Multi-FX: Boss ME-70

The issue:
When I plug my guitar straight into the front of the Blackstar amp, the clean tone is amazing, rich, and dynamic. However, when I place the ME-70 between my guitar and the front input of the amp, the tone becomes flatter (with all the effects turned completely off on the pedalboard)

My target
The “direct to amp” Clean Tone: I want my clean tone to sound exactly like the direct guitar-to-amp connection, using 100% of my Blackstar's natural tube preamp.
High-Gain Channel: I want to use the Boss ME-70’s built-in Rectifier amp modeling function for my heavy rhythm tones.

My Questions:
Gemini suggested the 4-Cable Method (4CM) to achieve this, but I'm a bit confused about how the signal flows.
If my guitar plugs into the ME-70 input first, will it still preserve my pure Blackstar clean tone when the modeling is turned off?
Is 4CM the absolute best way to handle this, or should I look into something like an external A/B switcher pedal to keep the paths separate?
What are the best cable setups/brands to prevent high-frequency loss when running 4CM?

Did anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks in advance for the help!
