Bulk scan

I’m curious, does ACO bulk scan have a minimum items per transaction to be counted toward the metric or is it all transactions with bulk items?

Do not rehire list

If someone was to complete an interview, be successful and attend an induction and then quit the day after for another job are they likely to be put on the “do not rehire list”?

Choux advice

Hey pastry experts,

Does anyone have any insights into choux? Wanting to know how it performs in the oven and what temperatures work best and just personal experiences in general!

Thanks

Choux pastry cream puffs

Hey Chefs,

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience making choux pastry, things like cream puffs or profiteroles and can give me some insight on the best temperatures and how they behave in the oven

Thanks

Superannuation for junior staff

For those who aren’t aware Coles aren’t required to pay super to junior staff who work less than 30 hours a week which I believe is not right!

Junior staff do the same job as adult staff and don’t receive super. No junior is working 30+ hours a week.

Just wanting to see what others opinions are on this matter

Caretaking store manager

I’m assuming it’s probably in the name but what is the purpose of a caretaking store manager? Do they belong to other stores or are they a DM\SSM filling in

Penalties for a Sunday

I worked 5 hours last Sunday but upon looking at my payslip I was genuinely confused because I was payed 4.25 hours @ penalty 1.5 and then 0.75 hours at 2.0 penalty. I’m not complaining just curious to know why that would be, I’d ask my OIC but we never cross paths.

Edit: I’ve figured it out thank you everyone, it’s because I started before 9 which I don’t usually do

Team members scanning heavy and bulk items first

I can understand from a customer perspective how annoying it can be when a team member approaches you in the self checkouts wanting to scan your bulk items first, here is an explanation from a team member perspective for those who don’t.

Each stores customer service department obviously has metrics one of those being what they call bulk scan. They want team members to scan heavy and bulk items within the first third of a transaction because they can be “easily forgotten”.

This metric is recorded hourly and team members need to get above %75 for the hour to be compliant, that then also means for the entire day and week it needs to be above 75 to meet that metric.

Team members don’t like it, personally myself and my manger hate it as well but we don’t make the rules but are made to enforce them. I have seen people before saying “take it up with management if you don’t like it” it’s a head office thing and they couldn’t care less.

Most team members get abused on the daily for trying to do this.

We DON’T think you are stealing!

Hopefully this clears it up for some people, if you have any questions please comment them and I’d be happy to answer or I’m sure someone else will!

Highest amount of ACO’s in a store

Hey team!

Curious to know what the largest amount of ACO’s you have seen in one store?

For myself it would be Coles Melbourne CBD with I believe 27 which is a crazy number to me.

Hybrid register

There has been conversations with leadership in my store about potentially getting hybrid registers but not a lot of people seem to know what they are or how they necessarily work.

One of my main question is, are they just TACO’s or are they designed differently?

Also if it is something used by customers and team does that mean it has the 2 different operating systems (ACO, ML REG)?

Thanks!

Pen ink all over chef jacket

I have somehow gotten pen ink all over my chef jacket while it was in my bag, I’m thinking a pen leaked but not sure.

Anyone has this happen to them before and have any tips on how to get it out, it’s a white jacket.

Thanks Chefs

Online Bags

I did an online order for delivery today and I have t done one for a while and I received large paper bags with a max weight of 11kg instead of the small half bags.

Why don’t they put the larger heavier duty bags in stores at checkout?

Possibility of becoming a service supervisor

I have been a service team member for nearly 3 years and my manager on multiple occasions has expressed that I would make a good supervisor,

I would like to be a supervisor and would like to talk to my manager about pursuing it.

The problem is I am still at school, is it even possible to become a supervisor if I’m still at school apart from the limited availability? I am 18

(I can’t currently talk to my manger as they are on leave for 3 weeks, hence why I am asking here)

Shopping bags

Customers can we please normalise not using the bags you from your online order for your normal shopping and handing them to a team member to be packed. Those small half bags can only fit a limited amount of items and it is quite annoying.

Any other service people have this issue?
