After the Arakan Army successively captured Point 288, Point 188, and Point 148 hills in Ngayokekaung Township, Ayeyarwady Region on June 17, 19, and 21, 2026, fighting has continued daily in the surrounding areas. The junta has been reinforcing its forces in an effort to recapture these positions, launching relentless offensives.

The enemy has been reinforcing from Artillery Battalion 344 and Pathein-based battalions, while also strengthening its forces on all four sides. Simultaneously, they are conducting operations to secure the Pathein-Monywa road, deploying large numbers of troops to establish positions along the route.

The junta has continued intense attacks on AA positions using long-range artillery, airstrikes, and suicide drones, keeping the fighting intense.

On July 2 and 3, 2026, the Arakan Army successfully captured two outpost hills belonging to the junta's Point 227 hill in Ngayokekaung Township, Ayeyarwady Region, despite ongoing enemy counterattacks.

Details of the captures:

· July 2, 2026: Captured the first outpost hill located approximately 1.1 km west of Point 227 hill.

· July 3, 2026: Captured the second outpost hill (tower base hill) located approximately 1 km from Point 227 hill.

During these hill capture operations, enemy bodies and some weapons and ammunition were seized. The AA is currently pursuing and mopping up remnants of Battalion 108 (under Division 66) who are fleeing in disarray toward Point 227 hill with heavy casualties.

NUG battalions raided a township-level People's Security Group (PLF) camp in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in an exchange of fire and casualties, according to local military sources.

On June 29, after 3 PM, district battalions raided the camp where township PLF leader "Argu" was stationed, leading to clashes between both sides.

"There was no way to negotiate or control the situation, so they went in and swept through. They (PLF) also had weapons. They had many cases against them. Since we couldn't stop them through other means, this action was taken. The raid was conducted because we had solid evidence. Both sides exchanged fire," a local defense force official said.

During the shooting, at least one civilian woman who was inside the camp, along with some PLF members, were killed or wounded. Details will be released by the relevant authorities, the source added.

The battalions have reportedly taken control of the camp and arrested some PLF members, along with seizing weapons.

The Monywa Township PLF was formed in 2022 and is known to be an organization under the National Unity Government (NUG).

As of the morning of June 30, the battalions involved have not released any statement regarding the reason for the raid, casualties, or arrests.

The National Unity Government (NUG), Ministry of Defence (MOD), People's Defence Force (PDF) Headquarters has released a statement regarding operations in Chaung Oo Township, Monywa District, Sagaing Region.

On June 2, revolutionary forces interdicted a junta column of approximately 100 troops that had departed from Ngar Yat village in Chaung Oo Township on the Monywa-Mandalay road. The column was advancing along the Chaung Oo-Pakokku road, conducting armed patrols, looting, and burning villages. The ambush occurred between Sin Myay and Htan Cho villages.

The attacking force consisted of:

· Monywa District PDF Combined Battalions

· Monywa District PDF

· Chaung Oo Township PDF

· Sagaing District PDF

· Chaung Oo Township Public Security Group (PLF)

All operated under the command of Monywa District PDF Military Command.

Results of the battle:

· 23 junta troops killed

The enemy's advance force was beaten back and retreated into Htan Cho village. As revolutionary forces pursued and cleared the village, the junta commandeered civilian vehicles to retreat back into Chaung Oo town.

NUG/Press Release Summary – Sagaing Region Operations (May–June 2026)

The PDF, under regional military commands, conducted multiple successful ambushes against junta columns and convoys across Sagaing Region. Key results:

· May 5: Ambushed 200-man column (LIB-14) near Thit Kyar village – 6 killed, many wounded.

· May 19: 3 landmines on patrol near Alakappa village – 3 killed, 3 wounded.

· June 2: Interdicted 100-man combined force near Htan Cho village – 23 killed, 9 wounded, 2 captured, 16 weapons seized.

Myaing PDF, in cooperation with regional allied brothers, pursued and engaged a junta column of over 400 troops that had come from Pakokku Battalion (101), chasing them from Pakokku Township into Myaing Township. They were severely beaten by the time they reached Kaing Taw Ma village in Myaing Township and retreated back to the Twinma Pyu Saw Htee camp.

Due to the combined forces' attacks, the enemy suffered no fewer than 50 killed, including their commanding officers, with many others wounded. Additionally, large quantities of ammunition, military equipment, and vehicles were seized.

Furthermore, a Mi-17 helicopter that landed at the Twinma Pyu Saw Htee camp to evacuate their wounded was successfully shot down and destroyed by the allied forces.

"It was shot down today. It happened in Myaing Township. We will release details about casualties and ground situation once the battlefield is clear," a Magway-PDF official told Yangon Modern News Agency.

Revolutionary sources also confirmed that the military's communication networks have acknowledged the helicopter crash and confirmed it was shot down.

"As far as we know, our side fired and the helicopter crashed. It was definitely shot down. It's a Mi-17 helicopter," a revolutionary source said.

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) has issued a statement reporting that forces under the National Unity Government (NUG), Ministry of Defence, are conducting raids on military camps in Tawngtha Township, Myingyan District.

A PLA spokesperson, Ko Wai Yan Phyo Mo, confirmed that NUG-affiliated forces are entering villages and arresting family members of PLA soldiers.

He said:

"Some of our PLA camps are being raided under orders from the NUG district command. We will not fire the first shot. Please don't force us into a corner with no options. The NUG needs to withdraw its forces back to their relevant positions. If they continue blockades, shootings, and arrests, it will lead to a head-on confrontation and things will get more complicated."

It is reported that the NUG Ministry of Defence is trying to bring revolutionary forces in Sagaing and Magway regions under their Chain of Command (COC).

In Magway Region, an ambush was carried out against junta troops exiting Seikphyu Town, resulting in the deaths of 10 junta soldiers, including a captain, and the seizure of 8 weapons and ammunition, according to the Northern Seikphyu People's Defense Force (NSP-PDF).

Yesterday, on June 16, in the evening, a joint revolutionary force intercepted and attacked a 6-wheeled vehicle carrying 15 junta soldiers and a car carrying a captain as they were leaving Seikphyu Town, at the entrance to Seikphyu (at the Napa Pin Htut Tat ascent).

During the attack, the junta side suffered 10 confirmed deaths, including 1 captain. The following weapons and ammunition were seized from them:
