Failed negociation with nug and monywa psf(ပလဖ) result to nug raiding psf camp

NUG battalions raided a township-level People's Security Group (PLF) camp in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in an exchange of fire and casualties, according to local military sources.

On June 29, after 3 PM, district battalions raided the camp where township PLF leader "Argu" was stationed, leading to clashes between both sides.

"There was no way to negotiate or control the situation, so they went in and swept through. They (PLF) also had weapons. They had many cases against them. Since we couldn't stop them through other means, this action was taken. The raid was conducted because we had solid evidence. Both sides exchanged fire," a local defense force official said.

During the shooting, at least one civilian woman who was inside the camp, along with some PLF members, were killed or wounded. Details will be released by the relevant authorities, the source added.

The battalions have reportedly taken control of the camp and arrested some PLF members, along with seizing weapons.

The Monywa Township PLF was formed in 2022 and is known to be an organization under the National Unity Government (NUG).

As of the morning of June 30, the battalions involved have not released any statement regarding the reason for the raid, casualties, or arrests.

Three PDF soldiers killed by PLA landmine in Tawngtha; tensions rise after PLA arrests a local resident and seizes a car and motorcycles 22 June 2026

Three PDF soldiers have been killed after stepping on a PLA landmine in Tawngtha Township, Mandalay Region.

The mine incident occurred around 2:30 PM today (June 22) near a People's Liberation Army (PLA) camp in Tawngtha Township, according to a local PDF soldier. A PLA official also confirmed the mine strike.

"Yes, those were the mines we regularly set up for camp security. When they raided, our comrades had to evacuate quickly and we didn't have time to clear the mines. What we've heard so far is that PDF soldiers were affected. We are deeply saddened and regretful about this," a PLA official told MPA.

He stated that the mines were standard camp security measures to defend against enemy raids, and were not specifically planted to target the PDF.

While the PDF claims they raided the PLA camp, there was no exchange of gunfire from either side.

"Calling it a 'camp raid' implies shooting. There was absolutely no gunfire from either side. Even though PDF soldiers were killed, as of this evening, there has been no shooting from the PDF side either," a local PDF soldier said.

---

Background to the conflict:

The issue began on May 26 when PLA forces arrested Ko Than Htay Aung from We Laung village in Tawngtha Township. They also seized:

· A passenger van

· Two motorcycles

· House documents

The family of Ko Than Htay Aung requested help from the Public Security Group (PSLF) ပလဖ, who then reported the matter to the NUG government's Myingyan District Command. The district command asked the PLA to release Ko Than Htay Aung, but the PLA refused—prompting the PDF to go to the PLA camp.

The PLA official confirmed the arrest and seizure of the vehicles and documents.

According to the PLA, a captured police soldier's statement revealed that Ko Than Htay Aung was arrested for allegedly supplying information to the enemy, and the items were seized as evidence.

"We have his own confession statements," the PLA official said.

However, the PDF soldier denied that Ko Than Htay Aung was an enemy spy, and said he was released this morning with injuries.

---

PLA's response:

"We conducted the necessary interrogations. After that, considering his offenses, we gave him a warning and allowed him to return to the area. We released him this morning," the PLA official said.

The PLA also stated that the seized items would be returned through proper channels.

---

Allegation of extortion:

The PDF soldier also claimed that the PLA had threatened to kill Ko Than Htay Aung unless his family paid 2,000 lakhs

When MPA reached out to the PLA official for comment on this allegation, no response had been received as of around 8 PM tonight.

PLA camps being raided by NUG forces

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) has issued a statement reporting that forces under the National Unity Government (NUG), Ministry of Defence, are conducting raids on military camps in Tawngtha Township, Myingyan District.

A PLA spokesperson, Ko Wai Yan Phyo Mo, confirmed that NUG-affiliated forces are entering villages and arresting family members of PLA soldiers.

He said:

"Some of our PLA camps are being raided under orders from the NUG district command. We will not fire the first shot. Please don't force us into a corner with no options. The NUG needs to withdraw its forces back to their relevant positions. If they continue blockades, shootings, and arrests, it will lead to a head-on confrontation and things will get more complicated."

It is reported that the NUG Ministry of Defence is trying to bring revolutionary forces in Sagaing and Magway regions under their Chain of Command (COC).

NUG Defense Ministry:mdy pdf commander Comrade Mon Taing Arrested for Illegally Taking Over 16 Viss of Gold and Failing to Return It June 13, 2026

Myanmar's National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Defense has released an investigation report regarding the detention of Comrade Mon Taing (former Chief of Operations and Organization of MDY-PDF's Special Operations Unit) and Comrade Naing Gyi (former logistics officer).

According to the report:

Mon Taing was previously disciplined for having an inappropriate relationship with a married woman within the organization.

Because of the resulting loss of trust and internal division, MDY-PDF reorganized its leadership structure in February 2025.

Although the offense could have resulted in imprisonment through a military court, he was given six months of confinement due to ongoing military operations.

Gold Misappropriation Allegations

The Ministry states that while serving disciplinary punishment:

Mon Taing allegedly directed Naing Gyi to unlawfully release 16.6 viss of gold belonging to the organization.

An internal audit launched in May 2025 found that both men had violated regulations by removing the gold without authorization.

During an MDY-PDF Central Leadership Committee meeting in August 2025, both reportedly admitted responsibility.

The report further claims:

The gold was never returned.

Both individuals repeatedly avoided accepting the disciplinary punishment imposed on them.

Mon Taing interfered in organizational management despite being prohibited from doing so.

Additional Findings

Investigators allege that:

Mon Taing bypassed financial procedures and managed resources independently.

During the February 2025 restructuring, he ordered the destruction of both hard-copy and digital financial records related to finances and gold operations.

Financial revenues generated by the fundraising department were not fully transferred to the finance department as required by procedure.

Naing Gyi exceeded his authority by releasing the gold without proper approval.

Arrest and Investigation

Due to what the Ministry described as escalating offenses:

Both men were suspended from all duties.

Their weapons were confiscated.

They were detained beginning on November 15, 2025.

A five-member investigative tribunal interviewed 20 witnesses between January and May 2026.

The Ministry says the investigation remains ongoing and that additional issues emerged during testimony.

Response from Former MDY-PDF Leader Ko Phyo

Former MDY-PDF commander Ko Phyo gave a different perspective in an interview with Myanmar Now:

He acknowledged that the gold was withdrawn outside normal procedures.

However, he said Mon Taing's side argued the gold was not used for personal gain, but rather was placed in an Ethnic Revolutionary Organization (ERO) area for a specific operational project.

Ko Phyo stated that the delay in returning the gold was partly due to Mon Taing being heavily involved in military operations and preparations involving new battlefield technologies.

Ko Phyo also suggested that:

Disagreements over military withdrawal plans may have contributed to the conflict.

Mon Taing strongly opposed certain retreat plans.

The dispute may have expanded beyond the original gold issue.

In Summary

The NUG Defense Ministry's position is that Mon Taing and Naing Gyi illegally removed over 16 viss of organizational gold, failed to return it, violated regulations, destroyed records, and undermined command structures.

Supporters of Mon Taing, however, argue that the gold was not taken for personal enrichment but for operational purposes, and that broader leadership disagreements—particularly regarding military withdrawal decisions—may have played a role in the case.
