These are the best ways I've found to get handyman jobs and build repeat customers:

Especially If you’re just starting out as a handyman, these are the best online tools to use for getting leads/referrals

  1. Google Business Profile — free, local, and probably the most important one. Get reviews fast.
  2. Google Local Services Ads — good once you’re ready to pay for serious local leads.
  3. Thumbtack — can work well for getting early jobs, but watch your lead costs.
  4. Nextdoor — underrated for neighborhood trust and word-of-mouth.
  5. Taskrabbit — good for small jobs like mounting, assembly, minor repairs, etc.
  6. Facebook local groups — still works if you post like a real person and don’t spam.
  7. TradePassApp — useful as a digital business card / simple landing page so people can save your info, request quotes, and refer you after the job.

Never rely on just one platform... Use Google/marketplaces to get found, a good lead gen source, then something like a digital card, reviews, and follow-ups to turn one job into repeat work and referrals.

The key is to get the lead to call or text you on your real phone number.

When the Thumbtack algorithm sees that the lead did not respond to you on their app or on the phone number they give you and the lead, they refund your money back for that lead.

Most people prefer your actual contact and don't like using Thumbtack's glitchy phone numbers...

So you just have to make it easy for them to contact your real number.

Any of the digital business card platforms can do that for you.

I see people asking for crm recommendations all the time but without significant context to what your business or what you do its almost impossible to give adequate advice.

I have multiple business and [btoolme](https://btoolme.com/) will not only recommend what crm to get but also other tools to run your business optimally.

Ever since Thumbtack started making all of their leads & pros use a unique phone number from them so that Ai can monitor calls and texts...

Thumbtack (fairly enough) began refunding pros who don't get a response within 72 hrs from the lead.

If the pro's lead doesn't call, message from the Thumbtack app, or text, the pro gets a full refund.

But here's the thing... the leads I'm getting on Thumbtack do contact me but its on my real phone number, not their unique bot number they try to force everyone to use.

Most of these leads use me in perpetuity because I do solid work, and I would have never gotten them execpt for Thumbtack.

As soon as I get the lead I send them an automatic message with my digital business card saying that the link has my real phone info...

Then I get a call or text from the lead at least 75% of the time, so far.

I use a digital business card for this but a google calader link or calendy link i think would work as well.

If you dont have a digital business card or calader link here are the best ones I've found:

-Mobilo

-TradePassApp

-Wave connect

-Google Calader

-Calendy
