After Effect 2025 keeps crashing constantly
Hey everyone, I am completely stuck and looking for help. My After Effects was working flawlessly a few days ago, but now it’s totally broken, and I can't get any work done. No matter what project I open even a completely empty composition with zero effects the program consistently vanishes and crashes straight to the desktop in like 5 minutes after loading. and I'm not experiencing any lag before the error appears and kicks me off the app !
The errors are:
After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <4008> <GPUFoundation> <5> Done loading modules, sec: 1.52982, device: OpenCL(0)
After Effects error: Crash in progress. Another detail: not every time I get the same errors sometimes I get the first one and sometimes I get the second one !
My Setup:
- Laptop: HP EliteBook 745 G6
- CPU/GPU: AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 3500U with Integrated Radeon Vega 8 Graphics
- RAM: 16GB
- OS: Windows 11
- AE Version: After Effects 2025
Everything I have already tried to fix this (please don't suggest these):
- Clean Driver Reinstalls: Completely wiped and cleanly reinstalled my AMD Radeon graphics drivers.
- Re-Installing: Deleted every single plugin, purged all cache, and manually deleted every local After Effects app data/roaming folder and registry file.
- Preferences Tweaks: Disabled the Home Screen, disabled Multi-Frame Rendering (MFR) entirely, toggled Hardware Acceleration settings, and switched the Mercury Playback Engine over to Software Only.
- Third-Party Check: Completely uninstalled any traces of Blackmagic Design desktop video drivers.
