4 year old with segmental vitiligo

My 4 year old son has segmental vitiligo on his left lower leg and foot.
We decided not to treat it with topical steroid cream last year as the chance of success is low.
We recently saw doctor again as new patch grew, still on the left lower leg
We were offered a different sets of topical cream,
ruxolitinib,
tacrolimus and steroid alternate

We were asked to use this for 6 months

The doctor suggested we do this first before considering light therapy.

But from my research, doing light therapy at the same time as the cream might have the best chance of success

Would love to hear kids’ experiences with these creams and light therapy.

And if your kids this age had light therapy, how did you explain it to them? Our son hasn’t asked about his vitiligo yet, but if we do light therapy, he will definitely ask why and notice the patches

Thanks!
