Saw a dermatologist who said I’m around Norwood 3–4 with a receding hairline, crown thinning and low density. I also told her about my chronic dandruff, itching and sticky buildup.
My bloodwork showed low B12 (149), while ferritin, vitamin D, TSH and Hb were okay.
She prescribed 5% minoxidil, B12, supplements, shampoo and a scalp lotion, but didn’t prescribe or really discuss finasteride.
I’m confused because if I’m actually NW3–4 with recession + crown thinning, shouldn’t finasteride at least have been discussed?
Also, the prescription just says “AGA + scalp problem” without really explaining what the scalp condition is.
Should I get a second opinion?
TL;DR: NW3–4 AGA + chronic dandruff. Got minoxidil but no finasteride discussion. Does this seem reasonable, or should I see another derm?
