no hate, but why do he look like that

my first time growing cantaloupe and decided to have it climb a trellis. is it normal for it to curve like that? or does it mean I haven't been watering as often as I need to? HOUSTON zone 9B clay soil but planted in a mound of quality soil and compost at the foot of my cattle panel trellis.
